Got lucky with this one... just snapped a shot at my son's lacrosse game to get a bird and caught him catching dinner. Didn't even know it until opened it up.

08 - Curve-Billed Thrasher (Toxostoma Curvirostre)

I'm not positive on the identification. I'm pretty sure it's a Thrasher, though.

20- Mountain Bluebird

21- Cooper's Hawk
So lucky at seeing this hawk. I was on my way back the office and I had some extra time, so I took a left turn and stopped by a small stream and as soon as I got out of my car and put my camera in my hands, this bird flew into a nearby tree. I couldn't believe my luck. Just wish that big branch wasn't in front of him.

Well off to a slow start but hope to fix that this weekend. This has gotten me to shoot birds that I normally would never consider and I am really curious how many I can photograph in a month. I am also going to keep this going all year to see how many different birds I can photograph. When I get time I am going to start a folder with my best shots of each species which I will change out photos as I get better ones. For birds where there is a difference between sexes or between juvenile and adult I will be trying to capture each.

Here are my first 5 (have a bunch more, just need to process the photos and ID a few of them. Not my best work and have better photos of a few of these, but not taken this month.

01A - Great Horned Owl (Bubo Virginianus)

01B - Baby Great Horned Owl (Bubo Virginianus)

02 - American Coot (Fulica Americana)
