This dress story started in Scotland. So you can imagine how the tabloids here in the UK can't discuss anything else, it really is crazy (and boring to be honest). The only good thing that might come out of it, is that you all know now that when you see strange colours in my images, it's not the image or the photographer, it's just your perception of those colours. So please, keep that in mind when voting ;-)

While we are on this subject, here's a very interesting article about seeing blue;

They say "seeing is believing" when the reverse is true -- believing is seeing. We can only see what we believe is there to see, or what we expect to see, from colors to ghosts. That's what's so cool about photography--the way it can encourage me too see more than what I usually see, because with a camera in my mind I look more carefully, with more curiosity.

Dave Ross: My eyes are opened

Listen: My eyes are opened

I came home last week and the first thing my wife says to me "You know it's blue and black right?"

And I said "What, you mean that silly dress on the Internet?? Not you too!" And that's how I found out that I am a gold and white person married to a blue and black person.

We couldn't agree on any of the pictures, "Pale blue and brown," said my wife.

And I asked, what does this look like to you? She replied, "medium blue and charcoal."

What does this look like, I asked, pointing to the last photo. "Blue and black," she said.

She waits 41-and-a-half years to come out of the closet, "The pale blue part, to me, is the lighter one."

Do you see any gold in this one? I asked, pointing to another picture.

"No, no gold at all."

So after going round and round about this, with the recorder running, but I'm pretty sure we weren't faking anything, I asked a different question.

Which dress would she prefer to wear? I asked here, do you like the color combination white and gold?

"No. First of all, it wouldn't look good on me. There's not enough contrast." She thought the white and gold wouldn't look good on her.

Whereas I like white and gold and thought it would look great on her.

I think blue and black is ugly.

I had an epiphany! My brain must be altering the colors to match my vision of what I think would look good on her. So as annoying as this whole thing has been, I have to say thank you to whoever started it.

"The thing is, if it's a dress, you've got to wear it. And I don't know where I would wear something that color."

Now I know why so many of my Christmas gifts stay in the closet.

I didn't get this controversy at all (I read all the article links too), until my wife came into the room and we had a lively argument about it (my perception: blue and black, hers: white and gold). Crazy!

I seem to be very much in the minority in that I can see it both ways pretty easily.

Who else can switch at will on this?

It's funny I saw this via Facebook or something the other day. It freaked me out that anybody could even consider it was white and gold. I can only see blue & black.

I can't do it at will, but I see three different combinations throughout the day...

White and Gold
Blue and Black
Blue and Gold.

Don't wear black and blue together unless you're a cop.

I love all the knockoffs on face book. There was a picture of a brown and white puppy with a quote saying "I love this black and blue puppy!"

Bill de Blasio (mayor of New York) was on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore last night and said the dress was blue and green. Pretty sure his pants are on fire, but I suppose that's a given since he's a politician.
