Well, I'm very pleased with the results from my Travel Guides submission. My fourth 7-plus result and my second highest photo so far. Another green ribbon for my collection.

I really got a chance to learn how to work with Levels in PS7 for this submission. All colour correction / cast removal was done using this tool. Here is the original:

As you can see, the original had a strong yellow cast that really took away from the image. I was shooting with default settings on the DRebel with a circular polarizing filter.

Here is the image as I submitted it for the challenge:

And here is an outtake that I had cropped in 2:1 format

What I would like to know is which of the two do you prefer and why?

Once again, thanks for all the votes and comments.

Sorry to say i prefer the first and original one.

The second, whilst still good - shows the aching that people have to wanting to edit their shots. I find myself editing for the sake of editing perfectly good shots sometimes, only to go back and prefer the original.

Here you have increased the color range, but the image has lost all it's warmth and atmosphere to me.

I presume you agree with my initial paragraph as your questioning yourself now.

I do it all the time myself.

I definitely like the third one... the 12x6. This is a beautiful subject. I saw a shot at my camera club last week of this lighthouse that was gorgeous.... somewhere off to the right and behind this scene, there is a large rock crevace. The shot was made of the lightous using that crevace to frame and create a leading line into it... phenomenal scene...

I don't know how you didn't win a ribbon on this one! I really, really, really (did I say really), like the 2:1 format. It makes the horizon look so much bigger. This is really a great shot. If I could do this this well, people would be breaking down my door to have me take photos! :)
