Hi there

I am wondering what most people use for resolution on there cameras for the photo contests? My camera has 4 settings: 2592 x 1944, 2048 x 1536, 1600 x 1200 and 640 x 480. Do you set your camera resolutions up to the max and then downgrade to something smaller thru a photo-editting program to get the required less then 150kb file size or set your camera at 640 x 480 to take smaller photos right away?

Any suggestions and comments are appreciated.

Thank you,

JEff

I always shoot with the highest resolution possible in JPEG.

I do all my editing on the file, then resize it down to submission dimensions by 10% increments. I always seem to do a slight edit after downsizing since there always seems to be a loss of sharpness, contrast, etc.

The final save for submission to the site is made using the "Save for web" function in Photoshop where I save as close to the 150Kb limit as I can.

That's it.
