Hello fellow DPC-ers!
Today, me and my friend Jake (bigjvoltage) got together and decided to do some shooting. After some boring flowers and such, we came across a white backdrop (my garage) which I had been searching for in order to do some studio photography. So here are both of our first "real" attempts at both studio photography and portraiture. We "modeled" for each other. Critiques and comments encouraged. FEEDBACK PLEASE!!! SEND US IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!
My First Attempt
Jake's First Attempt
Now aside from that, we decided to have a little more fun in PS. Here are our digitally..."enhanced"...shots of the day.
So please givee us feedback (especially on the portraits). The more critical the better. As for "WYYT?!" with the digital photos....oh well!
Thanks a LOT!
Lee and Jake
P.S. ......................CHARLOTTE!
Edit: All photos taken with the Rebel. Tamron 28-200.

I think those are great first attempts... better than mine, that's for sure! I am actually most fond of the "Slightly Demonic" shot... the PS work is really good on that one, and I like the composition a lot. I also like how you got in really close in your portrait of Jake. Well done. The lighting on Jake's first attempt is a bit harsh, but that can be tweaked I'm sure... I haven't figured it out myself. Overall, good work! :o)

Tankie Laurie...I can always rely on you. As for the lighting...that was partly because of PS work to alter the background (which was done in levels). |

A suggestion that I happened to read today.
One of the hallmarks of good portrait photographers is that the background is often lit separately from the subject, so that the two can be controlled independantly of each other. |

Have you ever read "The Sun Dog" by Stephen King? That's what that photo reminds me of. (A very creepy and engaging book, with photography themes, if anyone's interested.)
