Yeah, I can't wait for those trees to turn...with all this green stuff is makeing me sick...I'm ready for some color, then some great landscape shots of Winter, as they make great b/w's...I have been scaning all Summer for some dead trees and I found some. New Photos posted on my website via: profile page. Oh, the State Fair...I sumitted those two shots, but then ran out of time to print them as I got busy with other things...However, I wished I did...I think that I could have placed...I just went down to the my State Fair last weekend and saw FLOWERS, KIDS, and BUGS...oh my!!! Moreover, the top 5 shots were great....one thing they all had in common....they were printed in large format, or VERY Large....hmmmm....but they wern't of flowers, kids or bugs...simple objects and mundane....it mostly about the printing...Well, I know what to look for next year...

Hey, the Strip is GREAT, Ummm, it's like Mari Gra (sp) for real and of course 'PArty Cove" Depending on what you like as photos go...Old buildings and ruins galore...they make wonderful b/w's in Winter..I went down ther last April and found some interesting shots...one just recently done and posted on my website, "Boat Docks"....

Branson is not too far from Springfield. If you can get away from the "citified" part of town and into the countryside, it's really beautiful. "Shepard of the Hills" country.... Some of my favorite picture-taking spots are south of you - along the Current River. Gorgeous scenery... There are some wonderful places south of St. Louis too. Ste. Genevieve has those fantastic historic French homes from the 1700's (and a great winery!!). Perry County has lots of little towns and creeks and caves.

When I was growing up in Columbia, it was a sleepy little college town, not the growing metropolis it is now.

I do know what you mean about the Ozarks...there are many nice landscape shot down there and many neat little towns...I'm needing to get myself back down there to look around some time....I told myself that at the beginning of this Summer and now it nearly over...However, Fall is better..I have been wondering about Johnson Shut Inns and surrounding parks...many great shots of boulders and water falls...locally, I have been running around a small town called Roachport, 9 mile west of Columbia with a winery and the MO River down below a huge bluff....I have gotten many nice shots there...have to return this Winter with my Rebel, not my Sony F717...for some Winter Shots...I guess I'm big on Winter Shots..or b/w's of trees....

Oh, Columbia is about to take over the whole county now....In about 50 years from now...Columbia and Jeff City will meet some day....that's the saying around here....Columbia have became a great place for hikers, cyclist and for a few here photography....well, I have found it to be....heck, no mountains, sea shores, or deserts....got to the best with what I have...

Wow, that brings back some memories. I've spent many an afternoon around those bluffs (by the bridge over the Missouri River). Used to rappel there when I was in college. There used to be train tracks at the base of the bluffs, but I understand that has been turned into hiking trails now? When we were back for my daughter's graduation from Mizzou this spring, we stopped by the winery.

Johnson's Shut-Ins does offer some unique photo opportunities. That area is nice in the Spring too, with redbuds and dogwoods galore.

I have meant to travel up to Johnsons Shut-in for years... never got around to it. (A friend went once, brought back some interesting photos showing some unique geologic features.)

Unfortuantely I don't have any time off available from work until late October.

I'm in the south-west corner, just north of Joplin.

There are a couple of places in and around Springfield that I have been interested in taking a trip to, but just have not made it yet, most notible are the Exotic Animal Paradise and Fantastic Caverns, although there are several other caverns of lesser stature. I just can't think of most of their names off-hand, other than the Bridal Caverns (at least I think that is what they are called). And, for the more 'cute' tolerant, there is The Precious Moments Inspiration Park.

There are a few battle grounds around the area, but I can't say much about them. The few I have seen have no distinquishing characteristics, and unfortunately are of historic significance only.

I am unaware of the exact nature of any policy the respective places mentioned may have on camera tours.

That's Roachport area!! Great place near the bridge over the River....True the rail road had been pulled out and now it's a State Park called "Katy Trail"....It run's about 270 or so miles across Missouri from Warsaw to St. Louis....I have rode the thing by bike back in 99 on a honymoon....You like, website for the Trail is katytrailstatepark.com. I have spent a lot time along that trail for shots...The kids around here, repel now at a new park in Columbia with bluffs just south of MU Campus, which the park is part of the College for outdoor rec. Along with a dog park....Oh Columbia just got a Barnes and Nobles and Best Buys and a IHOP...Moveing up in the world...least not to forget, StarBucks Coffee..:)

Like I have said before, I must get down there this Fall to or soon to Johnson Shut Inns....I have heard that it IS great for photos....Hoping to find some abtract forms from rocks at the Elephant Rock State Park near by too....Dogwood are awlsome....I have found that they are a very nice contrast to dull green trees in the summer...again, I have a photo of that done on my website under "new photo." However, color shifted the the tree's...makes and interesting shot....

Colorado!! Now you are talking about some awlsome shots of nature.....and wild life!

Timing is an amazing thing! I'm typing this on I-70, about 10 miles east of Columbia, MO right now. We're headed from St. Louis to Kansas City (see here for why). I wish I could stop to say hi!

Hmmm, sound cool about some shots of animals from Exotic Animal Paradise...I have dabbled with a few shots from the St. Louis Zoo a few month back....If was fun...However, the cages seems to be a nucence....Sounds good some time....However, I think I'll have to pass on the The Precious Moments Inspiration Park. I have been Inspired enough from those little guys....My ex's grandmother had EVERY ONE of those little dudes...I think that they gone blown away from Hurricane Andrew..(I hope)....not harm to folks, just inanimated objects....:)
