Great idea... it should also have the nice side effect of making troll votes count towards a photo!

Great Idea
THe idea that art should appeal to everybody equally is rubbish, look at the Turner prize, an Idea that has gone so far up its back passage it sprouts from the mouth.
At the same time, there are people who genuinely love some images that I do not get, that is neither a failing in me or them just the difference in perception that great art should try for.
Ok so I like trying to go for Likable images at the moment, but when I try to stike out to left field it seems there is a large contingent pulling you back.
How about a trial run, maybe a normal voting prize and a Sigma
vote prize, cover both options. Then after a while poll the population as to which method should go on, or if both should be viable.
I can see many photographers going for popularity, and others going for controversy. Lets allow for both.

I don't think anyone was suggesting the usual ribbons get replaced... were they?

You can already have part of that with niall's plug in:

Yup... actually, I wrote my own Excel-based tool to do this. It's not foolproof though. If you get two (or more) votes between refreshes, you can only figure out the average, not the individual votes. And if someone bumps you up or down, it will be confounded with any votes received between the refreshes. I don't want to be refreshing constantly, it is a drain on site resources.

I think this is a great idea.... something to aspire to, actually. And I would look forward to seeing the results on a per challenge basis.

well, it looks a little posthumic or bvyesque; it is also outrageous, so I vote for raish's picture as is. nice and punny.
