No movement since I've been logged in for the last 6 hours. :-/

I have lost 2 comments though. I don't think this has every happened to me before. I am quite happy (and suprised) with the score.

I love getting conflicting comments about the same aspect of the shot. It does appear however, that I made some editing choices that are not universally appreciated. S'okay.

Inspired by your gift to rally folks to go out and comment I posted a challenge that hopefully others will take up 20 comment challenge - Best of 2011

If all participants comment on 20 images then the final comment tally would be 8,120! Beating last year's Best of 2010 by leaps and bounds:-)

The stats no longer include your own photo so if you skipped only one, the tally I'd correct. I think there was also one which was going to be dq'd for text.

No, it's inevitable. When people are trying to achieve a 'number of comments made' goal or challenge, the comments get thinned out, like trying to paint the whole kitchen with not enough paint. You get extra coverage, but there's not much depth to it.

ETA: that looks a bit grumpy, which I didn't intend. What I mean is, if you are forcing yourself to meet a comment quota you'll be commenting on some pictures that normally you might not have remarked on at all, in which case the path of least resistance is a nice comment. It's natural.

Yes, Paul, that sounds awfully grumpy. I would apologize for my comment quota and remarking on photos I might not otherwise, but it does cause me to stop, consider, and offer at least a reaction to something that someone else thought enough of to enter in a "Best of" challenge.

We can't all be good. So some of us just have to keep trying. (Insert obligatory smiley face here!)

I guess my point is that we have the 2% or so who vie for all the awards most of the time. They merely want confirmation that they are good. There are another 2% or so who vie for all the Posthumous-type accolades. The rest of us, the vast majority of us, really just want to know if someone else likes our picture, and if at all possible, why they might like it. That's all.

I'll try to stop being so dang cranky.

Bugger! I did not mean to offend and I crave your absolution. I appreciate all that you say in defence of your comment challenge. My point was merely that if one is commenting for some reason other than a passionate desire to be heard regarding a particular picture, it's natural to make the comment a comforting one, especially if time presses. But I wish I hadn't said it at all now.
