Lost 0.2 with the last 7-8 votes. It's like a free fall even if the score is still good.

Margaretn, I am thrilled with my score, it is at 6.6 More than I expected by a long way. As I said, I have a 30 by 30 canvas of this shot on my wall and when I look at it, it makes me happy. That is why I entered the shot I did. Because, I love it, I am proud of it. As for being nonchalance, that is a very sad thing to say.

Everyone should be proud of what they put in, regardless of their score.

I welcome this. In lieu of not having the option not to title a photo, this is the next best thing. Some folks have a knack for complementing their image with a borrowed line or something very poetic. And good for them. I enjoy a good title too. Others of us would rather have the image stand on its own. The alphanumeric cryptogram seems to do the job of saying, "Nothing to see down here. Look at the image."

I'm irritated by this score and reminded of my lowest scoring image which is also beautiful to me. It would be sort of poetic to have two beautiful shots be my lowest scores.

Are people voting down images because this is a "Best of" challenge?

ETA: After actually reading the first few pages of this thread I see I'm not alone. I think people are voting on what they think the image "should be." Meh.

I gave you a 7 and liked the uniqueness of your shot!
(Why aren't you bothering with any of our TX GTGs, lol! CHICKEN???? :p :p)

I see a lot of passion, thoughtful expressions, and discussion in this thread and some new forum threads about art and measuring the worth of your own shot.

I would truly love to see some of *that* effort channeled into commenting more. After all, there is a world of images that are waiting to be explored (407 in the 'Best Of' alone) :-) :-) These photos are waiting for the time and attention of a comment/critique.

I will now shut up given that I should follow my own suggestion:-) Going off to comment some more.

fwiw, I've not yet voted or commented but will vote all and comment until I feel like I'm repeating myself. Will, then break and resume after coffee, wine, food...looking away from the 'puter!

Not that I care, but I did notice a slight slip in the votes being received, and yes, I do track them as it makes it more fun....and drives my hubby nuts when I have to "check my score"! :P

Amen, Juliet! :)

Where do you get your photos done on canvas and, any clues as to cost for it? I'm thinking on one that I'd like that to be done with. :)

i'm taking my time in voting in this challenge. voting in smaller batches so it i don't feel overwhelmed.
i'll try to leave some comments after i'm done voting on all of them.

my shot, been on a constant slide since it peaked at about 15 votes. hopefully it makes turn in the other direction.

Bizarre voting patterns, I think. (What was the deal with all those 1s during the first day?) I entered my best from 2011. I had others which would have scored better, but I thought this entry would fare well. Obviously, I'm out of sync with the voters. I'm on track for my worst showing in a "Best of ...." in my six years of membership. Alas, I don't intend to change my photography style, my set of voting criteria or my voting scale because of the trends at DPC. I'm not mad. My reaction to this "event" is to redouble my efforts in landscape and wildlife photography and make new and better images of things I enjoy observing. 2011 is history and there is actually a drain on resources to rework old stuff. It's much more efficient for me to get on with the 2012 season.

I think I made a mistake in entering a shot I truly loved from last year rather than one that I thought might do well. It's been on a steady decline all day. At least a few people seem to like it.

My comment was I'd prefer more comments to the score improving multitasking and missing the point

So far I've only done my 9-10s so 25 comments

But Im running a backlog on other challenges, got sports done today, and leaving lover, and scissors tomorrow I shall be hung over watching films and having a mammoth comments session on this and the image a week thread
