Some pics I had taken in the past and wondered how they would have done if I had taken them within this week, I know it's down to the wire just trying to figure out if what I've taken comes close to any of these. Of course I can't show you that one...you'll just have to wait.

Clint, I don't like 1 and not sure of the perspective of 2 but I reckon 3 & 4 are close ups. That said Macro IV accepts closeups and the squirrel would be my fav, great shot, great detail and love the dof (6) :)

I like the wall socket, but it's sort of hard to tell that it is burning. With the current crop, the flame at the bottom looks more like an out of focus object in the foreground or a blown out reflection. Maybe try a selective desaturation and zoom out a bit.
The one with the screw is interesting and I like the amount of detail. The current composition just seems to lack a lot of impact.
For the flower, try getting a lower angle so that the only background element is sky, I feel that would simplify the shot and be a nice change from the usual brown/green bokeh. Also maybe try and get the wasp/bee doing something a bit more purposeful.
Both the squirrel and the sunflower are cool shots but they are bordering on non-macro shots. You seem to have really captured the squirrel at an opportune moment. If you have a chance to shoot, maybe get a bit more up-close and personal and just get his face and the nut in the shot.
Just my 2 cents. |
