Macro? I was browsing the galleries, and all I saw were "closeups" with the occasional true macro. Now, im in no way a pro or anything, but closeup isnt macro! Maybe this should be a rant?

I just wanted to ask what your guys definition of macro was...

I don't expect true macros. 1:1 is real frigging close. Mine will be beyond 1:1 but that's just 'cause I like to go overkill. Should be around 2.5:1.

I'll just look for well executed close up shots. |

The little flower picture on your Rebel's dial is the macro setting- that, and a good imagination are all you need. Don't think that you HAVE to own a macro lens to participate. The vast majority of members do not have DSLR cameras. This was taken handheld with a 70-200mm lens, and I consider it a pretty decent macro:

From the challenge description You need not specifically use your macro feature, but your image should be a close-up shot.

It isn't just larger than life size...

		| The challenge was for a close up and indicated a lot of lee way for the image, otherwise everyone would submit macros of bugs on flowers! Just loosed up and submit your creative close shots and have fun with it. |
