I stumbled upon this little guy while looking for cardinals to shoot for the challenge. I found the cardinals, but this photo turned out better. Handheld with the Canon 70-200 f/4L lens at 200mm. Cropped, USM, and desaturated everything, then painted the color back in with the history brush. If I had a little more time, I would have cloned out the fuzzy background clover, but this will have to do. ;-)

Excellent, glad you didn't desaturate the flower, just the background is enought to make the subjects jump out at you. I would have desaturated the blurred flower in the background however.

Can't really tell if ya desat'ed the background or not. Nice macro shot.

This would have had more impact with deep depth of field.

If the background is what is desaturated you couldn't tell. The DOF just renders it as one big blur. sorry.

You could have pulled a 10 here but you blew it by just desaturating the unfocused (and inconsiquencial) background. You should have greyscalled the flower and that bee would have stood out like a lighthouse.
