I downloaded IOs5 to both my iPhone 3Gs and my IPad 2...took awhile to figure out some of the stuff but all is working okay. You have to go into the settings on each device to turn on the photo stream. All devices must be updated before you can move your mobile.me to icloud...and even then it took three attempts before it worked. As usual,, your apps on your iPhone will no longer be organized into folders you may have created, which makes no sens as they stayed where I had them oon my IPad 2. The biggest oops I encountered was that all the photos on my iPhone disappeared and I had to reload them from my computer to the phone. I plan on updating to the new Iphone 4s and only went through updating the 3GS to have it ready to hand down to my daughter. |

That didn't happen to me. My app folders are still there on my iPhone 4. |

Epic days of updates to apple stuff. Yikes!!!! iTunes 10.5, ios 5.0, Lion OS X 10.7.2, Aperture 3.2, iPhoto 9.2. Some traffic glitches, but everything eventually all downloaded and installed on three devices. The remaining task for me is to move my stuff from MobileMe.com to iCloud. Currently, Apple is rationing access to the migration. Oh, well. Good things take time.
My iPhone 4S is scheduled to be delivered before 4:30 PM MDT on Friday, 10/14. |

My iPhone 4s hasn't even shipped yet, and I ordered on the 7th. :-( We have to wait up here. I upgraded my 4 to iOS 5 and I really like the notifications... works great with Instagram too. |

That's not Siri, Sir. That's command-based voice recognition. Siri is natural speech-based voice recognition. Watch the keynote speech demo. |

Siri is speech recognition pushed into wolfram alpha, i'd much rather have what the window phone does, at least its practical. |

Because saying "Text my wife I'll be home a little late" is so much harder than memorizing a bunch of commands and issuing them one at a time to do something you can probably do faster by hand. ;) |

And now, after some delays due to high demand, my devices are synchronized via iCloud. It's very impressive. Almost magical. Quite efficient and (good for me) idiot proof.
Edited to add: Now I'm ready to use my iPhone 4S to its full capabilities when it arrives tomorrow.

My I4S is in the mail and will be here tomorrow. On another note: My daughter (senior in HS) has one of the first Iphones and it is time to upgrade. She is on ATT and the rest of my family on Verizon. ATT service in my house is fairly bad. With that and the I4S coming out, she asked if she could upgrade. I told her since she was tapped into the National Honor Society and maintains an A average with three AP classes and doesn't give us a bit of trouble - that I would upgrade her phone.
However, I didn't think that on the pre order day last week that transferring phones was an option. I told her we would order her one on Friday and it would be in in a few weeks. She sighed but since she is a good kid, she said ok and went to finish homework.
Without going into details, I managed to score a white 32 GB I4S for pickup at one of the local shops in town. It will be charged to my account at 8am tomorrow. I will be able to pick it up in the morning and activate it by porting her number over later on Friday evening......I'm trying to think of a cool mischievous way to let her "find" this critter.....
.....any ideas? |

that's great!
You could set some sort of alarm â€Â¦
have the song in the alarm relate to the surprise or somethign relevant to her.
SHe'll have to find it by following the sound.

Best shot for an iPhone today is to line up at an Apple retail store. Otherwise, it might be weeks to order online. Buyers line up for iPhone 4S sale
"...If you were hoping to pre-order now and pick up the phone Friday, you're out of luck. Pre-orders at AT&T, Sprint and Verizon are sold out, and phones ordered through Apple's website may not be delivered for several weeks.
All of those brick-and-mortar retail stores also will carry the phone, along with select Apple-approved retailers: Radio Shack, Best Buy, Target and Sam's Club. (Word of warning: Check availability before lining up at one of those third-party sellers. Inventory is limited, and some will be filling pre-orders before selling whatever stock may remain.)
Customers who buy the phone at an Apple retail store will be offered free in-store setup service, personalized instruction on how to set up e-mail and download apps...." |

Local Verizon Rep said yesterday that they have such a huge supply, that all reps are on a 12 hour day. She feels they will last throughout the day.
I just called her back. She said had a bunch of people at 8am. Now just steady walk is buyers. She said at this rate they will be good til about 3pm. |

Shucks, I guess I'll be waiting, since I ordered through the Apple website. That's cool. |
