Louis, or any Canadians, or heck, even Americans...

If you don't mind me asking...

Who's your cell provider?
What does your plan get you?
How much does it cost?

I'm with Rogers, and have the cheapest plan "$15" plus 1,000texts, which balloons to ~$50 after they add all of their fees. Multiply by three in a "Family Plan" and it makes me sick to be paying $150 per month for something we rarely use, but feel we need.

I'm at a loss as to how anyone can justify the cost of one of these plans with all the bells & whistles. Maybe I'm missing some great plan somewhere?

It makes me jealous when I see all these people on the GO Train whittling away their commute with the aid of the interwebs. Imagine all of the extra posts I could make at DPC if I had a data plan, now that I rescued a smartphone from my brother's trash.

I'm with Bell. I'm on the $65/month plan, not sure what it includes other than the usual unlimited 5 calling, long distance, and texting, plus 500MB of data. That's more than enough for me for reading news, e-mail, browsing, Instagram, Twitter, and so on (I average about 200MB of data a month).

PS: I don't use a land line, so this is my exclusive phone.
PPS: I bought the unlocked iPhone 4 last year, so I didn't actually have to talk to anyone at Bell. I just stuck their SIM card in. When my new phone comes, I'll just stick the card in there and it'll work. I don't like talking to humans.

Just went to a local AT&T store in La Canada, CA and picked up a white 32GB. Only half an hour wait in line and by the time I finished my purchase (9:45 AM), not a single person in line, zero wait. Very surprising!

I'm with Verizon.

I pay $103/mo.

I get unlimited phone and data.

I don't have a landline anymore. I was paying $45/mo for that and literally months would go by without me using it.

Got the white one at noon today. MY phone just changed from backordered to Processing (AGAIN!). Stopped at the local AT&T store, we have 2 just two blocks from each other, and they said they have "TONS" left right now. Kind of makes me angry, I have to wait "2-3 weeks" when I pre-ordered. They say you can't cancel payment and take one from the store, because "then the upgrade won't show up anymore." CRAP! CRAP! CRAP!

I had a similar situation last year...I'll spare you ALL the details but it went something like this:

Ordered phone for daughter for Christmas (Upgrade with new 2 yr deal)
They said this popular phone would arrive by 12/23
Phone did not make it
Called Verizon
Phone was lost somewhere
I said "cancel" I'll go into store and pick up phone
No..you can't do that b/c of the upgrade blah...blah...
I said... THIS IS A CHRISTMAS GIFT...I NEED IT !
Went to Verizon Store
Rep got on phone for an hour with corporate
Got phone from Verizon store
Verizon said to Refuse deliver on the other phone - don't even "hold" it !
Refused delivery on the one that came a week later
All was good !

This was awhile ago and I may have some details mixed up but that's about how it went.

The UPS driver who stopped by my office was complaining he had 70 iPhones in the truck and most people aren't home. Apparently all the other drivers are facing similar issues.

Better control of the delivery date.

An update. Rec'd my iPhone 4S around 1 PM via FedEx. Looks good. But, I had trouble restoring apps and activating. So, I opted to do a clean install (re-download iOS 5). Right or wrong, it has slowed things down. The servers (apple and/or AT&T) are very slow today. But, in the wee hours of the night, when Europe and the US east coast are sleeping, I might get things up and running for a Saturday morning activation. Good things take time.

Wanted to try a low light photo since it is late and dark !

Unedited right from the cam. Shot under some dim kitchen lights above the subject.

This is cropped and some slight editing....including curves and sharpen.

Shows ISO 400, F2.8, 1/15sec.

Good job, kenskid. You are the first to post an image from the new 4S camera.

My new iPhone 4S has been activated. It did require that I wait until the server "high demand congestion" cleared overnight. Works just fine now. Yesterday, I had backed up my older iPhone to iCloud and iTunes. The iCloud version restore to the new phone stalled, or was somehow corrupted. The iTunes backup version worked. Eventually, the iCloud backup will be the preferred method, but it wasn't reliable during yesterday's high demand congestion.

Still dark here this morning before dawn. I'll go out on a photo shoot this morning. For at least one of the upcoming challenges, I'll try to use the iPhone 4S camera for an entry.

Ha. I won't even count that pic as the first "real" pic. Just want to shoot something! Btw - to use. Loud with photos you will need update to latest iPhoto on Mac. Was free for me for some reason.

I can't seem to upload any photos from my iPhone to DP. Choose file button is grayed out. Any suggestions?

I think that's not a feature at DPC. You can't vote from a phone. Or upload from a phone. Also, there's no 'Like' feature, either! What?

Its been like that since the first iphone.

And be careful with what you shoot with the camera. Everything gets uploaded into your icloud photostream, and THERE IS NO WAY TO DELETE. Right now, people are curious about the phone and they will want to borrow it from you for a few seconds or so to try it out. If you take photos you dont want others to see, there is no way you can hide them from your photostream.

Hmmm...I'll check that out...however...I had to jump through many hoops to set up Photostream...so it is not an automatic thing...(if you choose)

Trying to get the feel. Cropped, sized and slight editing on saturation and sharp.

Yes, the setup is not automatic. But once its done, the upload is automatic, and once photos are uploaded, they stay there for thirty days, without option for deletion. Im not sure if the photos are uploaded in full res, but with 8megapix cam and 5 gb of free space shared with other stuffs you put in the cloud, you may want to turn off photo stream until it gets out of beta, which does not guarantee they will put a delete button somewhere on the photostream interface.

Since I'm new to this thing....can anyone see my photo stream? Is it public? This is good to know in the event I shoot a photo of a cute butt or something !
