I will be listening closely to what people report once the new model gets into some hands.
I got the iPhone 4 the day it was released, so I only need to wait until Nov. 25 to upgrade to a 4s if I want to do so at a subsidized price. And most likely I would be able to sell my current phone which is in mint condition for the price of a new phone. Hmmmm....

IPhone 4s camera news...

I, too, bought the 4 on the day it was released (through at&t) and I'm getting to upgrade. I really dont understand why some are eligible and others arent. Also, I had an issue with my home button & they recently replaced it. If Gazelle.com agrees with me that it's in the best condition (it's only a few weeks old) then I'm going to get $250 for it. My net cost is only $50.

Hey no fair, you get to upgrade now! ;)
Actually I'm glad you can do so now but I don't mind waiting until Nov. 25 to be eligible for a subsidized upgrade myself. I have always gone with the least expensive calling plan through AT&T, maybe that's why I have to wait a little longer?
You might find you can get the best price for your slightly used iPhone 4 through Craigslist. Just be sure to look up a method of wiping all your personal information from the phone before you hand it over to someone else...

There is a good Denver, CO willing to buy my 24 month old 3GS 32mb. for a fair price. //www.buymytronics.com/press.aspx

When that IP5 comes out with the bigger screen and 4G access....my I4s will be gone....and it will be MINT.

Just loaded Icloud version of Itunes onto IMac. Syncing with my big wireless Time Machine...(oh...did I tell you how nice that thing is?)....Will be ready for all my tunes to dump onto my IP4s when that piece of tin comes in.

Apparently, Siri might be jealous of other phones.

IOS5 might help with that when it's released this week. The 3GS and 4 are both fairly average for browser speeds compared to competing smartphones, however when upgraded to IOS5 the iPhone 4 with a single 800MHz A4 chip will outrun a Samsung Galaxy S II with dual core 1.2GHz processor (and the 3GS is only slightly slower than the 4).

what new in iOS5. Seems like a good update for an ipad but really disappointing for an iphone.

Not sure what you mean. Very exciting new features for the iPhone 4S. But, I think the best things are the synchronization features between all Apple devices via iCloud. As of sunrise this morning, ios5 has not yet been released, but it could happen at any time today. iTunes 10.5 is required to download ios5. So, if you haven't downloaded that, then do bring iTunes up to speed first. iPhones 3GS and 4, as well as iPad, iPad 2 and recent iPod touch models, will be compatible and eligible to use ios5. The new iPhones 4S will ship with ios5 installed. Siri is a "4S only" feature.

The world's most advanced mobile operating system.

I agree. They're saying over 200 changes in iOS5 and from looking at the reviews all over the internet, I'm really excited about many of them.... from simple little things (being able to bold in an email) to huge things (not needing a computer to backup & sync). I'm super excited. I brought my laptop to the office so that as soon as it is released I can download & upgrade. :)

I loaded the new Itunes on my stuff last night. I ordered Neil Diamond's Hits (don't laugh) on my Macbook via Itunes. I picked up my Ipod about 10 minutes later and the tunes were on it. Really a good feature !

I am in need of an upgrade quite badly myself since my old 3G has seen its better days. I'm just gonna go pick one up from an AT&T store this Friday. Being a longtime AT&T customer, I get to keep my unlimited data plan which is a plus. Anybody knows anything about the 4G network thing with 4S? I heard iPhone 4S is a 4G phone. Is that so assuming 4G is even supported in the area you are in by your carrier?

On another note, I came across this IOS 5 video which I am sure most of you have already seen but just in case you haven't, here it is:

You heard wrong... sort of. The 4S is still 3G, but on AT&T's network, the new implementation is the same speed as 4G. With IOS5, real world speed will be even faster.

I guess that is good news if the 3G's speed is improved to be comparable to that of the 4G!

The bad news it's with AT&T.

It was already comparable (see chart). With IOS 5, the iPhone 4 scores over 51,000 on this benchmark, so that should give you some idea— and that improvement isn't just AT&T. Incidentally, the iPhone 4S scores over 89,000. Zoom!

I wish you'd back some of these up with reasoning (especially the streaming video part, as I'm not sure why that's here--a mistaken reference to Quicktime maybe?)

Saying that Jobs was responsible for Pixar's magic (computer animation) is wrong headed. After acquiring part of Pixar from Lucas, Jobs had very little to do with what would become the company's future strength. He tried to sell the company not that far before Toy Story was released as its hardware business was decidedly failing.

I'm not quite sure what major advances support the notebook statement. Apple makes some nice notebooks, but have never launched anything that could be considered revolutionary--at least nothing since the original PowerBook in 1991 which was one of Sculley's initiatives.

Smartphones, I agree; but I disagree with implication that we're in a better place, or even that we are here because of great vision. Steve Jobs was a good business man, in that he was quick and responsive. The App Store was originally a concession to developers who didn't want to write web apps. I long for the openess of previous smartphones (which could exist technically on Android devices if it weren't for the culture that Apple has now raised around "App Stores").
While on the subject of the modern smartphone market, Google bought Android in 2005, while the Apple iPhone wasn't released until the end of June, 2007 (it was announced in January of 2007). While muchof Android and IOS undoubtedly are inspired by parts of the other, Andy Rubin probably deserves no less credit than Steve Jobs for the recent speed in mobile UI and computing.

The iTunes store has certainly revolutionized the music industry in a way that very few things have. I'd agree with this.

You see...the trick to these kinds of posts is to include the three letters IMO

Ok...Fedex has my I4S. It shipped from Memphis. Says 2 day shipping....so that means Friday. Hmmm Memphis is about 9 hours from my front door. I wonder if FedEx is going to put it on a truck and deliver it in 2 days or if they'll throw me a bone and put in on an flight so I get it tomorrow.

I guess I'll have to use my dinky 'ol D700 for my Apple entry ;}
