... did they have a remote camera to film the module lifting off or did they leave a film cameraman behind?

I've never quite worked this out! :)

Yep, he's still up there. If you zoom in real close, you might see him :)

They had, at least on some Apollo missions, a remote camera that was controlled from Houston. I believe it was the camera on the rover. Anyway, it was only on the last one, Apollo 17, that they got the great footage of the ascent module blasting off.

The hard part about the shot is that there is a delay - something like 1.5 seconds - so the cameraman had to do it all blind.

some say it was all done at a movie studio in teh Nevada Desert and we never made it to the moon

Moon Landings a Hoax

of course I do not support the above web site and feel 100% confidant we did go to the moon, I just threw that link in there for some comic releif..

I saw a documentary on this once. The astronauts apparently had to go through photography training to learn about the best apparture, shutter setting, etc to shoot landscapes of the earth from the moon... Sheesh, some people will do anything for free photo lessons ; )

...speaking of comic relief...it reminds me of the old 70's movie with OJ Simpson about the Mars landing that was all set up in a desert hangar somewhere...don't remember the name... LOL ;o)

That's Capricorn One. And because it is very scary how many people fall for the moon hoax: //www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html

There are actually some good photography lessons to be learned by the debunking of that crazy hoax business. Who thinks up stuff like that?

Capricorn one was one of my favourite movies. I wanted to see Saturday night feaver, & it was full, so went to Capricorn One instead. (To give a time frame).
I think the moon conspiracy is a load of rubbish, If it's so dangerous up there, then how did they fix the hubble space station.
Also there were too many moon visits which looked the same to make the whole thing a 'scam'!

I have a feeling that many educated photographers could give good explinations for all of the things he says are "wrong" in the pictures.
