| Worst downhill slope on a challenge I have ever had... Went from about a 6.3 at 40 votes... now at a 5.6 at 142 votes... How in the world did this happen??? |

That's pretty awful! Mine has steadily decreased too. I thought I was definitely in the 6s. Now at 5.75. :( |

| Yep...been above 6.5 for 6.5 days....last minute 4's are getting me. sitting at 6.46....very happy with it since I was thinking it would score 5.8 t 6. |

| The first 2-3 days I was around 6.6, then 6.45 and the last couple of days it decreased and now it is at 6.35... do you have a parachute? |

We must have now very mean spirited voters. In a Free Study (!) I have received three 2s, six 3s and eleven 4s. Usually the scores between 1 and 4 are for bad to poor images. Is my image really so bad for 20 voters?? While I am a relative newbie (8 months on DPC) I have been quite active on the site and thought I understand the voting and accept occasional trolls. But this is particularly disappointing. I can understand now why  nightpixels asked  langdon to fix the average score system so that his images cannot be identified and attract low hate/envy votes. But what about those who want to have own style which makes their images easily identifiable? I am a bit lost on this. And did I mention annoyed!!?

I agree, this is frustrating. My free study and Skyline shot have been holding steady all week. Today, the score just keeps getting lower. |

I can see why some people turn off voting updates, and don't track if this sort of thing gets to them.
I just tend to try not to think about the votes (though I do track them rigorously!)

Voting should be disabled on Sundays.

It's too bad I don't like cheese, or I'd offer some up. :-)
I'm DELIGHTED with my FS this month - excellent comments, a great suggestion (by two commenters), and a couple of favs. And I suspect the score probably dropped with everyone else's today. I have no idea. I turned off scores last Monday and have left them off for the most part. I'm VERY happy the moving average doesn't move during voting anymore! I can be completely oblivious to my scores that way.
Free Study is an opportunity for you to show off something you're particularly proud of from the past month, if you have something like that. While a good score is always nice, I don't really worry as much about it for Free Studies. I'm more often than not just happy to share the photograph and hope a few others enjoy it, too. But the real joy, for me, in a Free Study, is seeing what everyone else submitted - seeing what others are particularly proud of this month! |
