...plus the scrubbing of votes from voters that hadn't reached 20%.

Is my image really so bad for 20 voters?? While I am a relative newbie (8 months on DPC) I have been quite active on the site and thought I understand the voting and accept occasional trolls. But this is particularly disappointing. I can understand now why nightpixels asked langdon to fix the average score system so that his images cannot be identified and attract low hate/envy votes. But what about those who want to have own style which makes their images easily identifiable? I am a bit lost on this. And did I mention annoyed!!?

You ended up with one 1, two 2s, three 3s, and four 9s. Not nearly as bad as you thought!

You are better at math than me! :)
PS I didn't know I had a 1! I have to ask Niall how to read his charts.

Heh. You're probably doing it right. There is a small bug in displaying the histogram in my program though. Maybe that's what threw you.

Also my program can't guess who changed their votes so it guesses. Might miss out on some votes too so there is some uncertainty associated with the votes you estimate. No matter the means.

It's nice, isn't it. I never have scores turned on, so if I want some sort of idea I'll reluctantly glance at my average. The fact that that doesn't move anymore is a nice relief. I see that as a feature, not a bug. Average score shouldn't move until completion of a challenge.

Ignorance is bliss.

Yes, but it appears to be my abandoned score overflowing with sub-zero votes. It rolls down hill.

Unbelievable! 3 minutes to rollover! Will this keep the 6 mark?

Still stunned at the comment count and score. Not too shabby for a cell phone image in a FS.

I'm DELIGHTED with my FS this month - excellent comments, a great suggestion (by two commenters), and a couple of favs. And I suspect the score probably dropped with everyone else's today. I have no idea. I turned off scores last Monday and have left them off for the most part. I'm VERY happy the moving average doesn't move during voting anymore! I can be completely oblivious to my scores that way.

Free Study is an opportunity for you to show off something you're particularly proud of from the past month, if you have something like that. While a good score is always nice, I don't really worry as much about it for Free Studies. I'm more often than not just happy to share the photograph and hope a few others enjoy it, too. But the real joy, for me, in a Free Study, is seeing what everyone else submitted - seeing what others are particularly proud of this month!

ursla? I got one too. Very happy with it.

LOL...in my case, not Ursula (although she is definitely at the very tip top of my list of favorite heroes).

It happened last Sunday, too.

Voting should be disabled on Sundays.

I can see why some people turn off voting updates, and don't track if this sort of thing gets to them.
I just tend to try not to think about the votes (though I do track them rigorously!)

I agree, this is frustrating. My free study and Skyline shot have been holding steady all week. Today, the score just keeps getting lower.

The first 2-3 days I was around 6.6, then 6.45 and the last couple of days it decreased and now it is at 6.35... do you have a parachute?
