But yeah, let's give it a go. I'm not expecting great things, but really really had a great time shooting for the challenge!

I just did a quick peek at the last 10 challenges both of us have entered. 6 for me and 4 for you and the tenth one had a score difference of less than .0100. So we are practically tied. I had fun shooting for this one too. Forcing me more into a different mindset that I very much enjoyed. I am going to be in Chicago for the first handful of days of the challenge but should be able to keep updated on scores through my phone.

Well I'll be... you must be slacking. :-)

Let's go for deviation of score from 5.5, in either direction. And number of letters per comment.

I think that is brilliant criteria. Any extra points for Ben's comments or letter count?

Care to battle? It's been a while since I have beaten you in a challenge hasn't it?
ETA - doesn't have to be a score battle. Maybe based on comments or some other criteria.

I can't wait for this! I love living vicariously!

Double letter count for a Ben comment. But now how will we do the math? Or are there two prizes to go for - one for average letters/comment, and one for greatest deviation from 5.5? Or is one a multiplier for the other? Will we need slide rules? I think I misplaced mine....

OMG... this would be great!

Well, since my old Viewfinder teammate has a challenge in his honor, I just had to shoot for this. I actually like shooting what I submitted, but I never enter them since they don't really fit the challenges all that well.

When do we get a LydiaToo challenge? I've been seeing a ton of frogs/toads around here lately! :-)

Does anybody with experience with ND filters know if there is any difference in quality between the Hoya X400 and the B+W #110 3.0 neutral density filters (aside from the fact that the X400 is a 9-stop and the B+W is a 10-stop).

They are equivalent price, so just trying to figure out if it really makes any difference which one I get.

Well, B&W is the gold standard, far's I know, so if no price difference, buy it. That's what I'd do.

Build quality, I presume. I've had a few ND and UV Hoya's break. However, my B+W 10 stop is 58mm, so it was only $40.

I can't answer your question, since I only own have a B+W 3.0 filter and so can't compare, but I'm generally happy with my B+W. Well built, and easy to screw on (which is not necessarily the case for many cheaper brands). One strange thing is that it produces a strong yellowish cast. It can be fixed more-less in RAW conversion, and does not really matter if you convert to BW, so I don't mind it too much. Maybe all of them have that, I have no idea.

Well I am in... Hope I do well... :) Studied his portfolio pretty hard so I hope I did up to his standards :)

I got one in. Sorry Ben, it's just another one of mine. I tried...

I'm in as well. I tried to channel something of his spirit without slavishly copying either his subjects or his techniques.

Translation: "I like it, but I'm doomed."

I'm in. It took some bribes to get what I wanted, but I got it. I'm quite happy and hope at least Ben enjoys it, even if no one else does.

That's basically what I was trying for too. We can be doomed together!

I studied his portfolio for quite a while trying to wrap my head around things. Such fascinating images, so far from anything I ever captured. When I went out to try to shoot for this I had no idea where to start. Took lots of pictures -- most were worthless. It was way harder than I imagined just trying to capture something remotely appropriate.

I am in, but when voting starts it may be ugly.

I'm in. Between this one and my macro shot, I'm going for my two lowest scores ever. Possibly brown. But dang it, I really like both of them.

I think all these comments show we should have more of these challenging challenges, who else agrees !
