The floral shots, landscapes, portraits, still life's, etc, all tend to have broad appeal when done well. But what specialty topics enthuse you personally?

For me it is aviation, military, and cycling.

I like darker subjects. Cemeteries, gothic art, sadness, despair, etc... Victoria Frances is one of my favorite artists

My main extracurricular interest, as of this instant, is the study and pursuit of dead men rhyming :-)

anything that artists can get a fair shake on. commercial photography has its place but its total dominance here (e.g. Absolut challenge) is really getting old. where is the art. photographic gymnastics is cool, but really now - big budget for models and studio wins em all. enough.

Has to do with the Dead Poets' Society, does it?

Back to the business at hand: Perhaps something that would fit perfectly in Mad Magazine.

Macros of bugs

Mineral Specimens

Street

Street art

Wildlife

The "impossible" shots, usually low light action, stuff that demands technique, fast glass and crazy high ISOs

Handheld long exposures, love to shoot in low light hand held, with my 15-85IS I can pull 1+ second handheld reliably, up to about 2-3 seconds if I don't mind a bunch of misses.

and lately: Fine art photography. Been trying to get together a collection for my walls, and it would seem that I don't want my shiny clean stuff up on the walls, I want blurry messes that make you question the photo, that give you a reason to look again, reason to look deeper. I'm thinking I'll start entering some of it and take the beating. :)

the boundary between light and shadow + an absent focal point = abstract
I'm not a good photographer, so I only capture my heart's desire about twice a year.

I want to see the hand-held 2 second shots. Now that intrigues me.

I would also like to see the dead guy rhyming while doing that quarter mile and hydrating with crunchy milk.

Anything with water... Ocean, lake, river, waterfall, water drops, rain, basically anything with water in it... I love!
