Just for the day.

Yes, Mr Obama was in Dublin town today, and it was phenomenal. He made a speech that was inspirational and electrifying, the reception was rapturous, and he even had a pint of Guinness in his new local up in Moneygall.

It's official; Ireland loves him. So how anyone can't like him is beyond me!

New visiting dignitaries rule when visiting Ireland.

When someone pours you a pint of Guinness, Drink it!

Mmmmm, pint o' Guinness! And it is almost beer o'clock here!

Yes, I'll fancy a Guinness later today as well

I hesitate to jump in on this for fear that the arch rightwingnuts chime in. But it is great to have such a smart, honest, and articulate president. We certainly suffered along with the rest of the world during the realm of that village idiot Bush.
And I do love Ireland. Drink Guinness, it gives you strength!

Tell ya what... Trade at 1 gallon a Guinness for each politician - Take as many as you want from whatever side they are on.... I'd rather have the beer :-)

Did she not?
I was impressed to hear her attempt to speak Irish on her visit. And also to shake peoples' hands on the streets--Ireland is probably not the safest country for her with fools in the real ira still about.

As I heard it she was at the brewery, and was poured the "Perfect Pint" by the CEO or owner or something, and then she turned and walked away to the next thing on the list ... apparently she has given up all alcohol for some time now, but it nevertheless cause a mid-level brouhaha -- at least enough so that I heard about it anyway ... ;-)

There's something hilarious about the thought of an inebriated eighty-something year old monarch isn't there? :-)

Did he tell the Irish to just let England have the majority of their country? He seems to be into that sort of thing lately.

Just keep him.

Why the queen mother was more popular than her daughter.

I believe the simile would have been to tell the English they should leave Northern Ireland. Occupied lands and all that.

Why would we want Ireland now? They`re skint and we`d just end up bailing them out - like we do with the Scottish.

Very true, and you've already sent some money over to us, so keep it coming.

The barman who served Obama said he was tempted to ask for a loan from the federal reserve.

Anyway, he left Dublin for the UK last night, so let's see how he gets on with his 'special friends' - I'll bet he doesn't go for a pint with them. ;-)

Excellent!

We'll put it to referendum and hopefully the swap will go through by the end of the month. I did mention *swap*, didn't I?

Let's see how you get on with our Enda Kenny as your new president... I'll give you a week before you come begging for Obama back.. :)

Good to hear it JH; not everyone in America is a conservative tea-party douchebag.
