Second time that I caught the beginning of voting. Same pattern, spooky:
First 2votes : 7
now, 12 votes4:75
Cannot do the math. Feels like the first 2 voters are very appreciative, and then, the flood
Needless to say, I can never vote so rapidly and prefer a clear mind. Good night to all.

I am currently taking a Nonverbal Communications class in college, in which a primary focus is analyzing facial expression. For this reason, it is quite painful looking at some of these pictures where the person is clearly faking the emotion and the facial expression doesn't match sadness at all. Most people would barely notice, but to me it is painfully obvious. Even though I didn't do much better myself in my entry, I definitely feel like that is going to affect my scoring of the images. |

You are perfectly right. With so much sadness around it feels odd to stage it. It seems to me that some of participants here are all in favor of happy images or that we Are an insulated group from the pains of the world. For the little I glanced, there are a lot of pains of the hearts due to broken relashionships, caged animals (plase read some of the articles on the subject, not all caged animals suffers, mostly the abandoned pets). I definitely need to look closely tomorrow. |

Has dropped with every vote since it was in the 7's. I personally feel some people were having a bit of fun giving quick high scores early on. I believe this will be in the low 5's before too long.

What does it matter if the animal is actually suffering? This is a photography challenge, not a social documentery. If the image conveys sadness, then it meets the challenge. |

Corect. You are perfectly right. Only that i was not referring to the quality of the pictures but the choice of subject (at hand?) and at first glance i thought that a caged animal=sadness in the same way we see a table and assume 4 legs.
Mostly echoing Flora 's comment on staged facial sadness |

I think mine is too sad, but only in its execution and idea. Dipping into the 4's now. |

4.60 here.
It is a good photo but I think I'm getting killed by the staged sadness...caged animal..."not really sad" voters. |
