My sad score continues to drop well into personal worst territory:

At least the one commenter pointed out they are not sure if they think my shot is sad. Reading some of the other threads about score (like cool colors) I think I need to aim for a more universally obvious match to the challenge instead of what I think is a good one from a narrower point of view.

The voting in this challenge is really weird. It's all over the board!

I've been here for sometime now, and have to say that I have never seen my score bounce like this one has..Actually kinda' fun to watch the wide swings. My score is just so-so, but the image is solid, and I like it, so I will live with whatever the outcome is.

I'm dropping like a hot potato as well, down
from 5.57 to 5.26 overnight.

I had high hopes for this photo, maybe it's time to go somewhere else :(

I too am a little confused on the score I received. I met the challenge well, with a good image. It was over 6 with 25 votes. Now look at it!
I have no idea....

Looking at all the great scores posted here, I'm not really suspicious, just sad:(

I've never seen people comment like this before, about how crazy their scores are. I remain suspicious.

I'm wondering if we depressed all the voters.....

Yep, they're all depressed. Now I'm depressed. Strange voting going on.

Come on, there have to be some higher scores than some people just aren't posting.

Who came up with this challenge idea?? I found it very depressing on multiple levels and voted accordingly. Sorry about that but I finished with the lowest score ever in all challenges I voted so far.

For me it came down to: did it portray sadness to me and if so was it well executed.
Hope your scores jump and start making you happy. :)

Granted, maybe some of the images in the challenge don't evoke sadness in the classical sense. (Mine included) These type of challenges are very tough to vote, because the contestants have a very broad range of what sadness, (for example), is. I am headed off to vote some of it now, I promise I will try to keep an open mind, and will try to remember that it's still a photo contest, and good quality photos are still worth something. Even if they don't fall inside the perimeter of my idea of sadness.

It was a tough one to vote on. Just as I think it was tough for the photographer to capture true sadness. As in all challenges there are some Great ones and ones not so great. It's still a contest and voted that way. No way my lowest voted scoring challenge. I also don't think any voting conspiracy going on, just a tough challenge.

Agree. I have better "sadness" pics posted today under "Hidden gem SC for April". I just did not have in the time frame a better choice to present and am still adamant to submit to 50 challenges before dropping.

What is the "classical sense" of sadness? It would seem that either the picture evokes sadness in the viewer or it does not. I was heartened to see that someone found the put on faces of sadness sadly wanting. Or maybe that is just another kind of sadness, feeling really sad about the portrayal. And feeling even sadder that people seem so poorly connected with genuine feelings.

Why can't this just be fun! I think that ideas come from the amount of time and availability of subject(s) s to the photographer. I work full time, and I'm taking three classes so what time and energy I spend is important to me. It is disappointing to have someone degrade your efforts with a low score because your idea is different.

5.8 and happy with that. :)

I'm kind of new to DP, and am not really sure how to take this. Is it a good photograph or a bad one? Any thoughts on this?

I'm finding that there are a large number of images that DNMC (IMHO). For me, a suggestive title doesn't make the image fit the challenge. Take away the title and what do you have? This makes voting very difficult. I'm sad about this situation... ;-)

I'm disappointed with my score! It makes me wonder what people are thinking when they vote. I want to know why I'm receiving such low votes. The comments I received so far do not offer me any improvement feedback.

I'm pretty certain I met the challenge, my exposure is good, etc...

You're not alone, I'm seeing that as well. In fact, I'm sad to say this is one of the lowest average votes I have given for a challenge.
