I was getting my morning dose of The Online Photographer and was led to this image which I find marvelously appealing. Julie Blackamon has got to be a distant cousin or maybe even a lineal descendant of Charles Addams.

Here's a link to her website. Treat yourself to a good laugh and some very impressive work. IMNSHO.

I love it!! Breaks with political correctness in child rearing. Thanks for posting.

Those aren't quirky, those are life.

I'll be the jerk that says it's a bunch of shit. Take a look at nap time, or ice cream sandwich. Using children as props.

You're no jerk. Christ that's some awful stuff.

I looked through most of the stuff on her site... I was impressed. It reminds me of what Man Ray might do for a family portrait :) Unique is good, and she does a nice job with that.

Yeah I love it.....unique and creative.

I've seen her shots before, I really like them.

They always benefit from a longer look, they're not your usual "pretty flower pot / wide eye baby macro" family stuff, they're much more interesting and quirky and fun to look at.

Some of the stuff I really like and some of it I don't care for at all. Nice to see an artist like this though.

Fascinating. A kind of fusion of Henri Rousseau and Jan Steen (whom she acknowledges).

Interesting portfolio. I don't see anything wrong with her use of children as "props." Actually, this is the kind of quirky work I hoped to see more of in the current Fine Arts challenge.

I love her quirky stuff - very Steen but also a bit Varo, with a dark side. The "arty" stuff is just average to me.
