Yes, but he's not proposing multiple resizing: he's proposing sharpening both before and after resizing, and that's allowed as far as I can see.

Ha! This would be a good spot for "my bad". |

You can sharpen the full size image, resize once to contest dimensions, and resize again. I have had this process validated. |

Still it sounds risky, because I don't think the rules were written with smart phones in mind. I'd check with SC. And I'd like to know what they say about it. |
Did you get a response from SC? I would presume anything other than the native camera app is off limits. |

Bagged my limit. Have returned to my mountain home without a scratch. After capturing candid photos, I actually talked to three of the subjects. It was an adrenaline rush! |

That's awesome Richard! I was out today as well and just had a ball. I am also one who hesitates to do this sort of photography, but today was an eye opener for me. Took a bunch of shots and I think I have one or two good ones to enter. Plus learned some about being ready with settings on the camera and catching the moment. Good challenge. :) |

Can't say as this is my usual style of photography but I'm headed off to NYC tomorrow for a few days. I think I may therefore be required to enter this challenge ;-) |

It's probably OK. I think the point of that rule is that you can't convert from a RAW file. Technically Photoshop, Elements, iPhoto, Aperture and Lightroom are all RAW conversion software, and we don't prohibit all of those. |

I've been thinking the same thing based on this rule: "You may use any feature of your camera while photographing your entry, with the exception of combining multiple captures in-camera." |
Any effect or change that takes place after you capture the photo counts as post-processing and is subject to the editing rules whether it's done in the camera or on a computer. Effects that are part of the capture (a physical filter or camera set to B&W mode) are always allowed as far as I know. |

Thanks for stopping by [WINK]. Curious, what do you mean by a "physical filter?" |

Camera hardware: polarizers, gels, ND filters, Lensbabies... |

Typically street photography is not staged, so for me at least, the image above is definitely DNMC, as were many other images in the last street challenge. You will find some excellent examples of street photography on 1x. I know many people hate 1x, but the gallery of street shots is typically rather good. if you are running short of inspiration, have a look, it's not too late.

Glad you were out shooting on Saturday, Dennis. I enjoyed the street photography, as well. I changed up equipment and settings during the shooting... 3 lenses, several picture styles w/ varying parameters. I'm glad I did that "insurance thing", as what I expected would be my fav shot didn't make it into the top 4. I have submitted one and I like it. |

It is pretty fun, and kinda amazing how much of an ice breaker a DSLR can be...

I spent more time talking to people than taking pictures!
It was really strange sitting and taking pictures of people. I'd be kind of irritated if people were taking multiple pictures of me.

drat. I was going to be done with street photography, since it's really kind of a boring little town for street shots. But I'm realizing that the key to street photography is the low angle. I should really go out and shoot again. :(

Oh, dear. I took a lot of yellow pictures today. I thought I was compensating for the yellowness of the sunlight and the lcd didn't show any wackiness but boy was a wrong. |

Do they convert to b&w well? You could save them that way. :)

That's what I'm going to do if I don't get anything decent tomorrow.. This minimal business is really interesting and I wish they would do it more.. |

I'm finding the minimal to be quite annoying. Simply because I've just started my high contrast b&w phase. I tried upping the contrast in the camera, but I still want more out of the shots. It would have been interesting seeing what I could have done with these.

Anybody care to share where they're sharpening in the process, before resize, before SFW, or after SFW and SFW again? Thanks. |
