You did it J-Me, cos it is a challenge to do, it makes you think outside of box. This was a particular challenge that had many items that you had to have it in , versus say take a shot of weather.

Seriously we all whine about low scores, but in the end, what it all boils down to is.

We did something, we thought of it ourselves and went out and did it. There is no greater thing than that really. Even if we end, dead last, we tried, got creative and learnt from it.

That is the important thing.

Actually, while I̢۪m talking about time and since I̢۪m new to setups I̢۪d be really interested to hear from anyone who cares to divulge - how much time do you spend on this challenge? I̢۪m wondering if it̢۪s me and my learning curve or if they will always require such a commitment.

It's always fun coming up with a viable idea for these weird challenges. For this one? Well it's been a while since the last one, so I had long ago released all my duckies to a swimming pool where kids play. Yes, that meant I started from scratch. (Ducks DO scratch, don't they?) The Viable Idea came quickly but with house guests, space and time were at a premium. And besides, I didn't want to hear chuckles (or worse) in the background. However, trips to the grocery provided necessary props. They needed to be sequestered carefully to keep them from the salad bowl. Alas, when the house was quiet again on Sunday, my Viable Idea didn't work! So, back to the drawing board, a new idea and 50 or so takes later, it was time to get out the tripod. Oh yes, and rearrange the scenery. Time? Fortunately, time is not money around my household, and a new scene arrived, was shot a few more tens of times, processed and entered. Approximately 2.5 minutes before rollover, a thought came, I looked, I reprocessed, and I reentered with 21 seconds to spare. And, wow, the reward for all this ducky delight?

Hey, I broke 5.0 this afternoon. Yippee.

Well I was hugely impressed and in the end my voting was 7.0455.

You all did a great job, better than I could ever have done in a million years!

So kudos to all of you! and for making me chuckle, which I needed!!!

I had my idea as soon as I read the challenge. I spent 3 dollars at the dollar store and about 3 hrs. shooting and editing. I'm bouncing from a 5.9 to a 6.0. Got lots of great comments!! There are some really great ones in the challenge. I voted and now I just need to leave some comments!

I don't know how much time I spent on this, because I worked on the props in spurts. Did have to do some shopping as there were no vegetables growing in my yard this time of year, and had to pick up a few other props at a different store. I only took about 50 shots so that part wasn't too time-consuming, and PP was maybe an hour once I decided which shot to use. Thinking up the idea and gathering and preparing props were the big time-wasters. So ... maybe 5 hours total time put into the whole project. But it was fun time :-)

Never ever have I had such a low score and personally I don't think my entry is worth so little. Sure it's not as good by far as some of the brilliant entries that I have seen in this challenge but it's definitely worth at least somewhere between 4 and 5.
What makes it even more painful is that I spent about 3 hours arranging and setting up and spent about 16 euro's on the stuff I needed for this shoot.

Wow!! That's quacking much better now and much more like I was expecting the score to be. Mine is no great image at all especially compared to some of the really excellent entries in there but that 2.7 was just not realistic at all and made me justifiably unhappy. Feeling a lot quackier now :)

WOW Fred!

I'm down to high 4.7 :( , but I understand why... Like juliette said, it was great to put all the odds and ends together for a creative and fun image.

Probably 3 hours gathering and putting materials together. 1 hour to set-up the first day. 1 hour 45 minutes of time (one hour lost because my camera malfunctioned -second time that has happened:-( ). 30 minutes to set up again the next day and 1 hour of shoot time. Cumulative on and off PP time: close to 2.5 hours. Agonizing which is better shot and edit 2 days:-)

Sigh, and all that for the score I now have:-(
Maybe it will come up but I think it's a stuck duck:-(.
