No comemnts and a blah score, and I think it's pretty good. Tough crowd.

you are not allowed to talk about entry's , period. In one of your last threads this was said many times as well.

I didn't enter this challenge cause of the three light score requirement. I've glance through the images and there are some very inventive photos out there :-) Good Luck to you all.

Were there elements missing from the requirements? Maybe, voters saw it as a DNMC??? So sorry...I'm sure that your photo was good because your work is always good...but, maybe, voters are not seeing all of the elements?

Never ever have I had such a low score and personally I don't think my entry is worth so little. Sure it's not as good by far as some of the brilliant entries that I have seen in this challenge but it's definitely worth at least somewhere between 4 and 5.
What makes it even more painful is that I spent about 3 hours arranging and setting up and spent about 16 euro's on the stuff I needed for this shoot.

Fred, the price you pay for a Blue is any challenges after you automatically get low votes until you get a Brown ;-)

@ justfred

So sorry about your woes. That smarts. But all you have to do is go to your profile page and see the blue ribbon :-)

Did you leave comments with your 3's? I hope you did.

This comment is geared primarily towards the voters who didn’t enter the challenge, but of course anybody can read it – and this has probably been said many times before but in regards to scoring for a challenge with a setup – it would be impossible for me to give out anything less than a 4 now that I’ve entered into a challenge like this myself.

Just the trouble of coming up with a suitable idea, finding the props, preparing the light sources, and checking the requirements is worth at least a couple of points (and that̢۪s before one even starts to take the picture!) and then the conglomerate time involved is worth at least another point!!!
Actually, while I̢۪m talking about time and since I̢۪m new to setups I̢۪d be really interested to hear from anyone who cares to divulge - how much time do you spend on this challenge? I̢۪m wondering if it̢۪s me and my learning curve or if they will always require such a commitment.

That's funny, I didn't notice your post until you posted this. I'm sure it has nothing to do with your post. I'm really not worried about it either. I've got a surprisingly good score for something that didn't require much work.

I spent about an hour 1 day working on the base
About 3-4 hours on the props and scene
2 hours shooting including setting up background, lights and camera
1-2 hours editing
This doesn't include time shopping (which I did while I was grocery shopping), luckily for this one I only spent around $10 on the items needed, but that can get pricey when doing things like this too.

All total around 9 hours, I have a decent score but sometimes you wonder if it is worth it after everything is said and done. Luckily I like to do this kind of thing or it definitely wouldn't be.

If I didn't enter a challenge without a valid reason (such as I entered a different one or because I was too busy with RL) I never score any of them below a 4 and hardly ever below a 5. After all that person did something I didn't....enter the challenge. And especially with a challenge like this where a "set up" is required. Which was another reason (besides the 3 light sources) that I bowed outta this one....I just didn't wanna spend the effort to set it all up.

OK, I was brave and had another look. Some showed very creative use of the props. I am feeling slightly better now but still not laughing.
My own score is under 6 which I don't mind as I prefer a bit more serious work for the highest scores in my profile.

You really need to think a little harder before clicking on the post button. You might not find shots like these "serious" but as I just posted below some of us put a lot of work into our shots. I would be proud to have a shot like this on my profile page.

I am still confused about the rules - why were my replies edited out? I have not commented on individual entries, just the use of a certain element in the photos that I thought was not in good taste. I am really struggling with this one. Is this because of cultural differences I do not understand? I am an Aussie now but originally from Europe.
