Congrats on your graduation! Enjoy your new T1i. I have the XSi (450D), and it's a great camera. They are basically the same camera with the 500D adding video which is not a concern of mine. If you have any questions on the camera functions feel free to ask.

Congrats, Sofia! Can't wait to see what you produce.

Congrats, to you, smardaz, for resisting the temptation to keep the T1i and hand down the 300D. ;-)

I actually contemplated wrapping up my old camera and telling her that was her gift as a joke, but I just didn't have the heart

Oh No! Don't give someone with talent better tools! We are doomed.

Congrats on graduation and the new camera.

That's where you and I differ, my friend. :P

eta: I used to go to great lengths to make cheesy packaging of would-be knock-off products to put the real products (like Gameboy, etc) inside and watch the kids faces turn sour as they unwrapped them, followed by relief and jubilation when they actually opened the box. If you can't toy with your kids' emotions, what good is having kids?? :P

Congratulations! I recently sold my 2003 model 350D and bought a new 500D T1i. I'm still getting used to it, but like it very much.

Can't wait to see your shots with the new camera!

I too like to use packaging for effect just in the opposite way, our first Christmas being around my daughter in law I gave her a dollar store wooden necklace in a nice name brand jewelery box, she was very polite and said she loved it. Since she was so gracious we then gave her the real gift.

Concratulation on the new camera!!!!!
