Caught this on the way to work this morning. Anyone have sunrises they'd like to share? :o)

PS - we could use a little distraction from some of the drama in the threads this morning anyway. Spread your sunrise cheer! :o)

Sunrises & sunsets are the 2 most dramatic times of day to go for a photo shoot at the lighthouses...so of course I prefer those :)
2 of my personal faves in the sunrise catagory...

Portland Head Maine...MAN you need to be up early in the summer to catch this!! Last June-5am

On the way to a sunrise shoot at Fire Island. Good thing no one is on the road that early! We just stopped before the bridge to get this one.

This is an old one, but I usually don't like to get up early (I say I do, but I really don't :)) This one was taken about 5:30 am, after taking my husband to the airport:

I got to start going to bed earlier so I can get up to catch more sunrises ...

Couple of recent ones

OK, this has been posted before, but it's my favorite only recent sunrise shot...

...obviously taken June 8, 2004. I really like the result, even if the atmospheric distortion did limit the sharpness pretty severely (couldn't have been the stacked teleconverters, LOL).

Most of my better ones are a little older ... except for the last two "sun rays at sunrise" shots.

See here, the problem is the sun rises at like what? 6am? Heh, forget that!

That's why you should appreciate these! Buy/enjoy a picture of something you'll never see or photograph yourself ...

Ice Henge

Ice monoliths on the southeastern shores of Lake Michigan. The whole landscape had been transformed with frozen waves and giant ice chunks piled up in debris heaps by the force of the freeze thaw cycle. This was taken at sunrise, facing west towards Chicago.

I get this messed up everytime
How do you post these images in the thread?

06/17/2004 07:24:27 PM · #20
Click on the little image icon above where you type (it looks like two little windows) and type in the number of the picture you want to show. Then preview it to be sure you put in the right number! ;o)

Use the top-right "Insert Thumbnail" button in the composition window; into the text box you get put the ID number which is at the end of the image's URL. Just put the number (probably 5 digits right now).

Sydney's sunrise this morning was stunning.
Half the sky was pink and orange, the other perfect blue.
I think it was the early morning rain that made it special.

But, alas, I was on a bus heading to work, and did not have my camera...

*sigh*

Edit: Put in the right URL :)

mandyp,
lovely, but didn't have squat against the one from the northern beaches of sydney.
all the footpaths were wet from early rain, and were reflecting the colour of the sky perfectly.

I should buy myself a small-small-compact fo these moments.
