I came back yesterday night having shot over 350 images, with several really great ones. My problem is that I WANT to post them here to get feedback like NOW, but since they were taken on the 2nd day of October...I guess I have to wait until the Free Study begins voting???
What is your guys' take on it? I've never had this problem before as the first Free Study I entered was the June one and I entered on the last day...
EDIT: And I never know if I'll switch between images and I don't want to take one out of the running by posting it...

I've developed some friends here on DPC, and I don't think it unethical to share my work with a few select folks who will give me feedback. So you have a few weeks to make some friends!

I'm in a similar situation.
In my case though it is more that I could post a heap of photos I took at the weekend, but NOT the one I'd enter. I'd post that if I changed my mind later in the month and posted something completely different.
My issue is that I can legally post these other photos .... but it would then make it fairly obvious if people read that thread and then saw my actual entry in the comp.
However, there are some non comp photos I do want to post here in the meantime *laugh*

Exactly. It would be VERY obvious that it was my photo (and even now a few people would know it was me), so it kinda limits me from posting the whole batch...

Lol. Thank you so much for the fave and comment on my Complexity submission! ^_^ It helps take away the sting of having all of the other webs (other than 1) score higher than me...
I'll send you the link too...
*hugs*
You guys are awesome. ^_^

Hi Amy. I'll be happy to take a look as well--I think David has the right idea. I would love to get 3-4 people who would preview photos and offer feedback (and selection from alternatives). I had a heck of a time chosing my shot for wildlife, and as a result, I spent too much time preparing a bunch of them, and of course, only using one. My family is always too busy to look at my alternatives.
We could always "abstain" voting on each others if we feel we've become biased. What do you think? Anyone interested in a "preview-review-club"?
And by the way, I really liked your spider web shot. It was one of the more artistic ones.

It was almost formally enacted once, but we did have a system of mentors and mentees (but not manatees). Usually, someone approached another photographer they thought could help them, and they worked with each other for a few photos. I did this with a few folks and it was fun. They looked at my stuff, too, and it was helpful both ways.
I'm not sure it worked as a formal system, but I would think that if you like someone's style, you can ask them to look at a few photos and they'd probably do it.

I'm not sure if this is frowned upon now, but people use to post links with no thumbnails to work they were considering entering with a warning that they might be entered. That way anyone that didn't want to be "contaminated" could easily avoid them while others can take a peek and give feedback. I've been gone for a year or so, so that might be taboo now...

Anyone up to seeing giving me advice on cropping of my entry? It's completely different from my original one, but I have two crops that I love but I don't know which to choose!

Hi Amy. Feel free to PM me and send me any image you like. I'll be glad to give you my feedback. :-)
Now let's get back to David's suggestion about that system of manatees...

I will be happy to offer a second opinion if you promise not to hate me. But then consider, while I am pretty good at spotting winners, I also have a pervesity to go against the grain. This is evident in my work. So ask only at your own risk.lol P.S. any other help in composition, cropping or technique, I am at your disposal. Please use my graphicfunk@msn.
Now, I am at certain times very busy because I do catalogue work, however, your response will be as timely as humanly possible. |

I need someone to bounce ideas (in this case images) off of also. I find that many times I am indecisive. I just need some outside imput. I would be happy to do the same for others. |

I don't realy care about what I have submitted to the free study.
I happened to take a realy nice shot on the 2nd and was amazed how it turned out.
I realy like this photo, and submitted it to the free study because I want to share it with all of you and see what you think.
It's not because of winning a ribbon, just the fun of sharing.
Normal challenges I realy want to score, here I just want to "show"...
