*this is my favorite*

I would appreciate comments and criticism. It's my first time photographing butterflies, and I would really like to capture some more photos next weekend. The local Arboretum is having a Butterfly exibit, where the flowers growing are attracting many many butterflies. So it's the perfect oppurtunity. Thank you.

Excellent shots, Jeremy! The color is brilliant and you've done a nice job with the composition. I like the first as well. The background is blurred quite nicely, focusing attention on the bug. The others are good, too, ...but maybe a bit too busy

I'll look forward to seeing more of your work after the exhibit.

Nice bright colors, Jeremy. You should have a great time at the arboretum.

One thing I just started doing on closeups like this is separating FG from BG when sharpening so that I don't develop any noise in the background. My shots looked a lot better when I only sharpened the part that was in focus. You can select a color range to include or exclude from sharpening, or just do something as simple as using the lasso tool and then feathering the selection. When you paste the selection into a new layer, USM will only act on the active layer, leaving your background nice and blurry.

Good shots - looking forward to seeing the ones from your trip!

Great shots Jeremy. Seems we have been photgraphing the same swallowtail (on the same flower!)

Very photogenic creatures. Thanks for sharing.

I can't offer much constructive criticism, Jeremy, but those are all great shots. It doesn't show that it's your first time!
