I am new to the sight, and I am wondering how this would have scored for the Vanishing Point Challenge.

All critical and non-critical comments are welcome and appreciated.

I probably would have given a 7 for your vanishing point photograph. I like the curve that lets your eye wander while getting to the vanishing point, and the lighting is pretty nice. (a little blown up in the upper right). My only suggestion would be to get the horizon a little more flat.

I'm not going to grade the framing one, because then it kind of gives away how I'd be voting, and I don't really want to do that :) I'll just say it's a cool shot.

8 and 7, in that order.

You might get flamed for posting 'out-takes' before the challenge actually starts for the framing challenge... its happened in the past
(But you are new so it might not be too harsh)

I like the vanishing point picture... its a bit on the small side, you should almost always make the larger dimension measure 640 pixels. I would have given you a 8...

I choose not to comment on the frame picture at this point in time... Maybe tomorrow :-)

Sorry about that. I edited to remove the framing one. I will post it again after the challenge begins. Thanks.

Those numbers are giving me a much needed boost after the thrashing I took in Botany and Neon. THANKS.

I looked at your past entries, my suggestion would be stay away from close up shots for a few weeks... force yourself to take landscapes or people shots. Then come back to close ups, you will see a big difference in your macro shots. (Just my opinion)

Thanks for the advice. I edited the size, but I really can't see much difference. I have continual problems with file size verses image size and getting things to load.

Thanks again for your help.

Please more comments if anyone else is out there.

Note: You took it out of the post but did you also take it off your recent portfolio additions on your member page? If not put it in the the file named workshop so no one can see it. Thx!

I just went out and bought Photoshop for editing after getting frustrated with all the "too grainy" reviews. My originals were not that grainy, but they got grainier after resizing and editing in other software. Can I just say WOW what a difference with Photoshop! Look out for me now.
