Does anybody have one?
Have been playing with a few pics from my visit to a working steam engine railway station, messed up on the cam settings for most shots but quite liked this one.
Any comments most welcome :)

I like it. Definately has that old world feel. try a bit of light burning around the edges for that old worn effect. Neat composition. Definately takes a person back in time. |

I'm not sure why you say you're struggling with aging photos ... this one looks pretty darn good. I like the effect!

Thanks all :)
You wouldn't believe the time I have spent playing with this and I'm glad you like it, it makes me think that maybe all my hard work was worth it.
Karen, I played with the edges but cropped them out as I wasn't happy with the result. I am intrigued by the aging process and plan to master this technique - ps is so much fun!

First, I love the photo as it is. It's fresh. I like the overexposed look.
Now, about aging. Usually something that has been around awhile (and I did think you had some advice for me by the title of the thread) gets darker. The whites on the left of the picture are to white. So at a minimum, I would darken the whole picture.
Try using another layer where you can colorize it and add a texture then trash it up with the eraser tool and fade it out. If you have water splatters or water rings pictures use them as a texture, they would add some more interest. Just some suggestions. Maybe browse istock for some grunge textures if you don't want to take your own.
I do like it as is. |
