Set your camera date to 2006 and submit photos you've taken in the future!!! |

But then I will have to ask again the same question I asked few days ago. What if a photo has its date after the last submission date, only few hours later because of the timezone difference, is that ok or not, people said it is ok, but the rules doesn't state that clearly, or does it? If so, then please tell me where I find it. I don't want to set my camera date/time just to have it right for DPC, I want to have it right as it is in my country. Please, can the SC confirm what the rules say about this?
I'm confused... |
All challenge deadlines are server time. When considering whether your photograph was taken within the challenge dates, we will adjust for the difference in time zones.
This means that if a challenge runs September 1-7, an entry from 9:30 PM August 31 would be acceptable from someone in California (but an entry from 9:30 PM September 7 would not). Likewise, for a user in Iceland, an entry from 1:30 AM September 8 would be acceptable (but an entry from 1:30 AM September 1 would not).

That should be put in when you submit your photo. Maybe in this part:
"Yes, this photograph was taken with a digital camera on or between Aug 9 2004 and Aug 15 2004." just add the time zone info there. |

Thanks for clearing that out for me Terry. Is this explained somewhere on the site? It should be stated in the rules IMO. I took at least two of my three photos in the challenges after midnight the last night of the challenges. I don't want to take the risk of being DQ because of that in future challenges, it's good to know how this works, thanks again.

This happens too often.

This is in bold type at the bottom of the Rules Page everyone attests to having read every time they submit a photo. Is it not clear enough?
To avoid the possibility of disqualification be sure to check that the date and time on your camera are set correctly before taking any pictures you may use as challenge entries. We will no longer accept this an excuse. You have been forewarned. |

If the date setting is wrong in people's cameras, then that's their problem, but I understand how frustrated it can be to discover it after dq from the challenges because of that. The line is clear, and the SC people don't have to discuss this or get into evidences discussion. I don't see they have much fun in doing that or dq photos, it's easiest for them and all of us to follow the rules of date settings and accept them!
The site has forewarned us, we should check the settings regularly! ...Now I'm going to check mine ;-)
