One of favorite stories. It's a great read but not for the faint.

There's a movie also. It stayed pretty close to the book if I remember correctly.
After reading it, I stopped asking my friends why they didn't have kids.

I took it to mean that anyone could revert back to the violence unless there is some restraining force in their lives. Children, being inexperienced in the fundamental ideals of governance would more easily and quickly revert to the type of system written about in the book. Adults have to overcome the years of rules and regulations they have absorbed to get to such a primative state.

This book was part of the school curriculum when i was at school many moons ago, and it should still be. A great read delving into human nature in general not just adults or children IMHO.

I wouldn't have known that was bug spray unless you had told me - maybe a little more depth of field? The concept is great.

This was actually mandatory reading when I was in high shcool.
Actually probably the best book I was forced to read!:D
I would also recomend to everyone, "The Count of Monte Cristo".
The book, not the movie!

I haven't read this book, it was required for the non-AP class I think (or they'd read it before I'd come to the school).
