I've been without a home computer the last few weeks and was unable to participate in the last few contests. I would have submitted one of these to the Free Study challenge if I could have gotten them off my camera in time. I think they would've done a lot better than my currect Freedom entry is doing!

Other than the two things you mention for the veranda shot I think you did very well under the circumstances. The shadows really give it a nice feel.

The crop works well on the wagon wheel image. Just a little more contrast would make it even better.

Sorry that I only have time right now to look at the first (dial-up and on my way out), but I had to tell you that I REALLY like the the first one. The colors are very bold and crisp and I love the shadows that you saw to capture.
