mine is black as always cuz it takes less time to load even with xp. if I want to view a pic then it comflicts with my tv tuner card for it is an active background.
edit: in my opinion would not make an interesting challenge due to a tv tuner card.

It could be an intresting challenge. I don't know about anyone else, but I always have trouble with using my photos as a desktop. So uninteresting...anyway here's the photo I've been using.

Sounds like a free study in a desktop ratio.

Great idea for a challenge - one in which an abstract image won't be marked down for a change!
I use this one for my own desktop (DPC basic editing legal shot):

I just use misc and vacation pictures for my desktop. Right now I have four (three from Hawaii and one of the Walt Disney Concert Hall) that change every five minutes. I can post them if anyone is interested.

I usually change mine about 2 to 3 times/week. However, this picture has stayed for a week. I am not a flower person, but this one just cried out to be on my desktop.

i often revert back to this one. originally sent to me with the
caption 'if you see anything other than two dolphins, take a break'
i find anything with a blue background [light sky[\] works for me |

I change it like I change clothes but this is one of my personal favourites,
I have had a print from it too and the quality is great, well done DPCprints.

Nice idea. Shame it uses up around 25% of the CPU on my Athlon XP 2500+. |

I have a tv tuner card and use pictures as my background, no problems or conflicts at all (xp pro). Can use webshots as well.

I've been using this for the past couple of weeks...I alternate pretty regularly, usually through photos I take of the kids.

This is a nice one. Leaves room enough for the icons to be visible, yet is a pleasant scene.
I think a challenge for this would be fun.
I use different things, my photos mostly, but also drawings my kids make using the paint program in windows. :) |

It is 18% grey right now, but when I do put images up I usually have the system auto-rotate all the photos I have in some random folder. Not all of them are any good, not all of them I even want to see again; but having the background change behind open windows gives a new perspective on the old shots. I am constantly seeing new things or things I would have liked to do differently in them.

I went through a small phase where I made a couple desktops. Ultimately, this one was the only one I really liked.
