BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I score many of them high -- and I hope others submit ones that they really enjoy themselves, regardless of how it scores. Good luck!!

...of course, a lot depends on what the definition of artsy is and what mood the voters as a whole are in at that moment... but Kylie and pcody are right...usually not very well. I like to look at them, but I'm not much of an artsy person myself.

Cool. I'll just let my cat take the pictures from now on. ;-)

They, artsy pictures, the subject of the question, usually receive the same score as a picture of a cat does.
But thanks for the suggestion. Now how can I tape his little paw to the shutter? It would be safer to use the cable release. |

		LOL

 How well...

My worst challenge in my last 30 was an 'artsy' "meaning" shot.

Translation: dpc thinks art is just out of focus, poorly composed or "of nothing."

Artsy can mean a lot of things, but in my experience (not just my own work but in following those 'artsier' shots that I really like) they don't go over well. I had a variety of 'artsty' shots I had in mind for the June challenge but I just chickened out and chose something with a more popular subject.

Here are some of my rejects:

Not that I'm doing all that great in the June challenge anyway. Just my usual range--currently at 4.6870. I'm doing better in Color Portrait--5.4100. My Purple entry is a tad artsy. |

What do you mean by artsy? If it's a nice interpretation of colors and shapes and pleasing to the eye, it'll do good. If it's a random bundle of crap, it won't do well.

		| Artsy and deep (as in thought) go hand in hand. They don't do to well here, this is more of a technical "how'd they do that" place where people try to figure out how one did the shot as opposed to why. Unless of course it is a cat. |

Hmmm.. Either it's a fuzzy, artsy shot of Yetti, or it's "a random bundle of crap"...

I think it's an alien. Am I right?

It's interesting, but I think since most people can't figure it out in a few minutes, they are frustrated and give it a low score. Can't be too artsy, it has to be a simple and elegant type of emotive art.

Tell us what this picture is!!!

I personally think calling a photo artsy is ridiculous and annoying.

But that's just my opinion. Just wanted to mention it. |

This is probably one of my more 'artsy' shots. It got a 5.7 which is ok, I guess. It's still one of my favorite submissions, though.

		| As the name implies there is a line and that one plant is oblivious to it, BLURRING the boundary. It has a foot in each camp so to speak. Kind of like me, some times I like artsy and sometimes I prefer the technician, but I enjoy it most where both meet. |
