this is my first real attempt with ps to make a major alteration to a pic. Made a duplicate layer then used the clone stamp, followed by the healing brush to remove the trees at the bottom. Merged the layers, then resized. What else should/could I have done......didn't want the clouds at the bottom L to be all white.

That's great, Sue!!! A really good job! :o)

If you don't want the trees all white at the bottom left, try burning a little.

haven't tried that tool yet Laurie........what effect does it have?

You could try to bring in some detail from the shadows. There are few ways to do it but there's a method that I think would work really well for this image.

It darkens specific areas...you apply it with a brush like the clone tools or paint brushes.

tried altering the highlights and it did work but left the trees looking flat and uninteresting.....need to work on this technique
