Just for fun, post your worst scored entry in a challenge! As a follow up challenge suggestion we could have a challenge where the participant picks one of the pictures submitted in this thread and enters your own "improved" version with reference to the original (Not your own original entry) :)

Here is my worst scored entry.
Date: 9/14/2004
Challenge: "Team Sport Action"
Title: "1"
Score: 2.2987
Placed: 137/138
I Had accidentally entered the wrong picture in the challenge:(

Oh boy, your score almost matched your title, LOL! Good job!

Here is mine, in the "Sound" challenge, I still kind of like it actually, I think it is quite "acoustic"

Date: 11/3/2010
Challenge: Military
Title: Ugggg is poor defender-of-cave
Score: 4.0492
Placed: 48 out of 51

Obviously intended as a joke entry and got many DNMC votes. Related to the "Chronicles of Grog" where Yo_Spiff had a caveman character named Grog who would comment on Free Studies. My alter ego was Ugggg, a friend of Grog.

A well-deserved 3.8301, I must say--but I'm shocked to see how many (IMHO) worthier photos placed below mine in that challenge.

Honestly, I have zero recollection of this image. And I think the memory card on that Sharp (my first-ever digital camera) could only hold like five or six full-res exposures, so the fact that I saved THIS one and didn't delete it in-camera to make room for something else...well, I'd like to say I've come a long way, but my average vote received in the past few months isn't much higher than it was back then!

The tenor of the community is definitely much kinder and more appreciative now than it was back then, for sure! (I had forgotten, until reviewing some of these low-scoring photos in this thread, how nasty-spirited the comments could be back in the earlier years of this site.)

34th lowest score ever on this site.
This year I got that image printed on a shirt for my brother inlaw (the person in the photo).

I looked through the Challenge "History" to find the lowest score on DPC EVER! The Winner is in the "Dairy" Challenge which ran from 8/17/05-8/23/05. It ended in 279th place with a score of 1.8805

Here it Is!!!!

I find this amazingly reassuring. The system works :) (Not talking about the computer.)

Do you remember how upset some members were with the idea of a "Catalog of Abstracts" in response to the challenge "Product Shot II". My entry garnered a score of 3.9714, which remains my lowest score. Thirty-one of the 140 votes I received were 1s.

Responses during voting ranged from

"1...Blatant disregard of challenge topic", to "WOW, what a great idea--product shots for a catalog of abstract art! I love it!"

The latter commenter added the following encouragement "I understand that some people are upset about this set of entries. One of the important functions of contemporary art is to raise issues and push boundaries. This often gets people upset. Hang in there!

This sounds like a story I'd really LOVE to hear more about over coffee sometime. I love a good subversive art trend--so I'd wear that low score as a badge of artistic integrity. :-) Any photo that can get the ENTIRE gamut of votes like this is, well, saying SOMETHING worth listening to.
