Many of us remember when DPC was buzzing with hundreds of active members daily. While those days may be behind us, I believe this community is unique and still holds tremendous value for photography enthusiasts. To attract fresh eyes and new members, one of the first ideas that came to mind was advertising. However, the current look and feel of the site, especially on modern devices, can pose a challenge.

That’s why we’ve developed the DPC app: to make the DPC experience more appealing and accessible to new users. To continue improving the app, I’d love to hear your thoughts on any features you feel are missing or anything that would make it your primary way to engage with DPC.

Before sharing your feedback, please take a moment to explore the latest version — we’ve added several new features recently (Android version, Apple version)

Once we’re confident in the app’s quality, we’ll start investing in advertising. If you have any experience in digital advertising and would like to help, please feel free to PM me.

I hope that this format, PC-based web browser, is continued to be supported going forward. Speaking for myself, I much prefer to type using a keyboard, and I also see images better at larger scale for viewing / voting purposes.

in the past when i did well in a challenge .. or sometimes when i didnt .. i'd post the pic on my facebook profile with a link to dpc and some glowing words .. like "check out dpchallenge .. its a wonderful site for photographers etc etc etc .. " .. that was my way of promoting the site ..

i stopped doing it a while ago .. but seeing lots of threads about how we're dying a bit i will start doing it again ..

btw .. thankyou everyone who are a part of this site .. its like a home to me and gets me out taking photos that i might never have taken ..
and thankyou Mita and the site council .. you are greatly appreciated .. :)

I like the mobile version for "on the road" viewing. It's well done within the capacity of mobile devices to allow one to navigate a large webpage within a small visual space. I agree with Barry that I prefer my laptop for any personal interaction on the website. Maybe it's my old eyes but I just see the images much better when they are larger and I don't like to miss anything. In fact if I may give my opinion I would redesign the front page to show the images even larger and use the title bar to lead the viewer to the other aspects of DPC such as a separate page for current challenges in voting, current challenges, Forums, etc. thus making everything larger.

I am just curious why the website cannot be redeveloped in a similar style as the app? Like others mentioned I prefer to use a PC or a laptop, the mobile screen is too small for me and I never mastered typing on the phone.

I totally agree with roz: the site is always a harbor to which one gladly returns. It was only recently, when the site wasn't updated for a few hours, that I realized how attached I am to dpc...

Of course I'd like to see more life coming back to the site too and I'm happy to tell people about dpc, especially those interested in photography. Some people have signed up, but unfortunately no one has stuck with it permanently. Oh well. I guess it's a commitment - and that is not popular nowadays. I can observe this in so many areas, not just here. Dates that require a certain amount of planning are really bad - nobody wants to commit themselves anymore: something better, more interesting could come along..

I really enjoy using the app.
But voting is difficult: there's the problem with rotating the monitor: I have to rotate a lot of pictures (not only those in landscape view but also in portrait view) before I can award stars. And quite randomly - some I have to rotate, some not. In fact, I prefer to vote on the large monitor of my PC, it's much more comfortable. The last time I started to vote with the app and I tried to complete this process on the PC - but somehow I was shown all the pictures as unrated again, even the ones I had already voted with the app.

I also haven't yet found the function in the app to mark a comment as helpful. I can award hearts, but you can't see them in the web view.

Thank you Mita - and all the SC members - for your keeping this site running and investing so much effort and energy into it.

I use the app a lot, since I'm not at my laptop very often. I'm on the app now 😁 I do find the rotating annoying, I have to admit. I'd prefer it be optional and the voting numbers always displayed in voting mode. I would also like it if awarding a heart or similar emoji automatically marked the comment as helpful when I went to the website. Right now I skip the emojis and go to the website to mark comments as helpful.

But overall I really love the app. Using the desktop version on my phone is awkward. Teeny, tiny fonts and links. But that's true for a lot of websites on the phone. The app is much more fun to use. So thank you, Mita!

I'm happy to use the app for reading the forums and seeing updates on my scores and I like the fact that I can respond to comments immediately, but I'm much happier voting on my computer because the photos are much too small on my phone. Maybe it's okay for people with younger eyes.

Where do i send feedback about app issues?

For the record, I still prefer to use the website, even on my phone.

This is really dumb -- but I still can't find my scores in the new app.

Please explain where I would see them.

Wendy - i found that if you click on the VOTE tab, then click on the challenge that has your entry, you can see the score as the first entry. I don't know if there's another way.

Also, I'm using the android app to do this

I wonder if I'm using a very old version. It's not there.

Same here
I could see my scores several weeks ago.
Then somebody commented during voting and I tapped on the comment (as far as I remember) EDIT: I clicked on the entry to see the comment
After that my scores didn't show up any more - regardless which challenge.

And:
If you get a comment during voting and this user is supposed to be hidden during voting you can see the username in the app nevertheless

I primlarily want to use the app to check scores -- but then I'd be more likely to search through the forums.

But it's too much work to look for your scores. On the main webpage, I can see all my scores at once, and see the number of comments. But if I have three things in voting, I have to go three different places to see the scores. So it's easier for me just to go to the webpage on my phone.

For the app to be usable for me, I'd really need to be able to see all my scores at once.

Hey, digital cameras are "in" again - if anyone has a TikTok account some promotion there might be helpful ...

I mean, I think I'm a part of the 'younger' contingent here for the most part, and I'm too old for TikTok.
