I sent some instructions to Bear recently, I am not sure if he had time to use them so far. I hope they worked OK for him.
I found joining Midjourney very confusing at first, try this:
Go to Midjourney site to get started:
https://docs.midjourney.com/docs/quick-start
Basically you will need to join Discord in order to use Midjourney. I started using Discord in the Web browser but my advice is to download and use Discord app. It is free.
If you want to test Midjourney without paying you will be very limited, I could not get a single prompt to run so I paid $10 for 1 month membership. If you don't want to continue you can cancel it at any time, it will expire at the end of the current billing month.
This is very important:
"Work in Your Direct Messages
Public channels move too fast? Use the /imagine command while direct messaging (my emphasis) with the Midjourney Bot. Images made within your direct messages are still subject to content and moderation rules and are visible on the Midjourney website."
I missed that at the beginning and got very annoyed with the extremely busy main page. You need to click on top left Discord icon in Discord app and then the Midjourney boat icon for direct messaging so you are one-to-one with the bot. If you click on the boat icon on top left just under the blue Discord you will see the very busy page with everyone else's posts.
I already posted the link to prompt generator that I got from Georges, I will post it here again:
https://promptomania.com/midjourney-prompt-builder/
Have fun! :)

Still playing with my images and prompts, I used this image:
Prompt was just one word - surreal. This is what Midjourney came up with:
. .
I like the last one best and will use it to modify my scene.

It would be preferable to keep this thread specifically for sharing AI imagery and discussion of said images, and all other discussion of AI and its moral/legal/etc issues on the other AI threads. |

I was hoping this will be the case but some posts have already been contrary to my intentions. Is it possible to move these posts to the other thread? |
I'm hiding all the comments not related to creating and discussing images themselves. Please post any commentary on the ethics/etc of AI technology in the other two threads on this matter.

There are still a few posts to remove, one about Rubbish In Rubbish Out and one about models appearance, at least a part of my post should be hidden. |

I like the way this turned out.
Personally, I don't have the time to play with this stuff currently, but do find some of it interesting.

what about RIRO do you not like? If you don't think it's relevant, I could elaborate. I think inherent biases of AI generating images are very relevant. |

I welcome the commentary. I am not an art person. Do not have any art background. Am easily swayed by "oooh, cool" images. So commentary positive and negative helps me learn. |

already lost.
I have 15 minutes to play, so decided to jump in.
I created an account, and then I used the link to the georges prompt builder, but when I type something in and hit return it brings me to CF spark art website??

I paid the $10. Though it seems to have a strange idea of what a ferret and a snail look like! :O
there is a young woman with red hair who is sick in bed. Her pet ferret is sitting on the bed, reading her a story. There is a snail crawling along the top of the book

I upload the images to my website, the chair was this link:
https://margaret.net/blend/chair.png
The Midjourney command line for the image was:
/imagine prompt https://margaret.net/blend/chair.png surreal --ar 4:3
Do you have a way to upload your photos where they could be referenced directly? The link has to be directly to the image (.jpg or .png), it cannot be to a web page with that image.

I could never get Midjourney to properly output the face of any input image, but I can refine a prompt to get as close as possible to what I want and then use photoshop to do the rest. This set is for my grandson. Many of the images of him are just snapshots around my office, so I can never get the lighting matched up very well, but they work ok with a lot of effort. Some came out better than others.

After reading the user guide again I came across this:
https://docs.midjourney.com/docs/image-prompts
I tried to upload an image directly to Discord, it seems to work, but when type /imagine and prompt appears, the image disappears and I cannot find it again. Anyone knows why? |

If you upload it into your discord thread, then hit Enter, then get the link from that uploaded pic to reference in the prompt, it will show up again in the prompt, but disappears after the prompt is executed, but your original reference image should still be above that in the thread. |

Thanks! That works! I noticed with all line commands you have to hit Enter after typing them, for example /info won't work till I hit Enter which seems to add a space and then I have to hit Enter again to execute it, a bit counter intuitive.
PS Typing space and then Enter works too on commands.

I had a quick look but I found most of examples rather weird, I am also not into portraits. Some lighting ideas are great, I will explore these further. |

How to get the colors you want? (palettes, hues, tones)
Work with broad general color palettes like autumnal colors, winter colors, cold colors, warm colors, vibrant colors, muted colors, tropical colors.
Remove colors using negative weights OR create dominant colors by giving them positive weights. For example, red::2 a small creek divides a vast meadow will add a red cast to the whole image.
Write normally about color and use rerolls and vrolls to create permutations until the colors sort themselves out. For example, A blonde blue-eyed queen wearing a brocade green and gold gown might work instantly or need you to 🔃 reroll or guide Midjourney by using :vroll: grid selections.
Colors are not easy to assign to particular objects, but if your prompt pretends the object is made of a particular material which has a color, the color can sometimes be invoked. Cool technique to mess with. These examples are just to get you started thinking in this direction. They don't work in every prompt. You can experiment with stuff like eyes made entirely of rubies or charcoal-dyed skin etc. This requires creativity on your part but can be a strong method. You can use any of these ideas to invoke colors.
Materials to invoke eye colors:
Diamond- Clear
Ruby- Red
Sapphire- Blue
Emerald- Green
Amethyst- Purple
Materials to invoke clothing colors:
Cotton- White or Off-white
Wool- Gray, Brown, or Black
Silk- Gold, Silver, or Pastel shades
Leather- Brown, Black
Flax- Natural or Beige
Materials to give oceans, lakes, and rivers particular colors:
Water - Clear
Milk - White
Wine - Red
Juice - Orange
Beer - Amber
Cola - Brown
Lemonade - Yellow
Blue Curacao - Blue
Pepto-Bismol - Pink
Antifreeze - Bright Green.
Materials for invoking fantasy skin colors:
Iron oxide - red, yellow, brown
Carbon - black
Charcoal - black
Indigo - blue
Henna - reddish brown
Cochineal - red
Carmine - red
Carnelian - red
Ochre - yellow, orange, red
Kaolin - white
Saffron - yellow

Thanks, Georges, and I thought that generating images in AI is easy! :)
I am working at the moment on prompts to give the images generated from my images a dreamy look, any suggestions? By dreamy I don't mean nightmares! ChatGPT gave me these synonyms:
"Romantic, Ethereal, Idealistic, Enchanting, Alluring, Imaginative, Fantastical, Unreal, Otherworldly, Delicate, Gentle, Soft, Serene, Peaceful, Tranquil"
Are there any strategies in deciding which prompts to choose? Trying all the permutations of the above would require a computer to feed Midjourney! And then I still would need to spend a lot of time on looking at the outputs, few days later. |
