Myself and Georges are working hard to introduce you to this new medium, are there any members who have already used Midjourney and would like to share their images? We would learn a lot more in this way.

In Midjourney there is a special style for creating a cartoon type of visual art that is typically drawn, frequently animated, in an unrealistic or semi-realistic style.
It uses a special engine called the "Niji". There are so many styles in that engine, it becomee hard to get the style you want. So here is a list
Niji Styles

I have been playing with still life with pumpkins, so far I don't like any results, the closest I wanted is this one:

the prompt was generated from /describe command for my image:
a table with three pumpkins and flowers on it, in the style of unreal engine, peter lippmann, softbox lighting, rusticcore, uhd image, depiction of rural life, photorealistic rendering

I think you write too much in your prompt. just keep it simple. I would go for " still life with 3 pumpkins, flowers, old table, natural lighting from a window, 1800s rural interior

this one I just used still life with pumpkins (5.1)

Maybe it's a banana liqueur?

Last one is amazing. Second one is also nice.

Version 5.1 is out. OMG!!!
big improvements.

Hey @everyone we've got a few announcements tonight:

1) We're testing a version 5.1 image system
- V5.1 is more opinionated (like V4) and is MUCH easier to use with short prompts
- There is a 'unopinionated' mode for V5.1 (similar to V5.0 default) called "RAW Mode"
- Don't worry V5 is still available (as before)

Other changes in V5.1 vs V5.0
- Higher coherence
- More accuracy to text prompts
- Fewer unwanted borders or text artifacts
- Improved sharpness

How to enable V5.1:
- Go to /settings and click "V5.1" (on the second row) or type--v 5.1 after your prompt
- For RAW mode click the RAW Mode button under /settings (after clicking V5.1) or type --style raw

We'd love to hear your thoughts in ideas-and-features and see your new creations in v5-showcase

2) We're re-enabling the AI moderation (on V5 and newer models)
- We've taken your feedback from the previous test run and things should be improved now
- To learn more about how it works please read our original message here: announcements

There may still be weird edge cases! please press the appeal buttons if you think there's an error and feel free to give more feedback at ai-mod-bugs

We are still collecting data over the next few days and improving this system.

3) Subscribe by Friday for Issue #2 of Midjourney Magazine
- If you want Issue #2 you need to make sure you have a subscription by Friday
- To get it go to https://mag.midjourney.com/
- The next edition is dedicated to V5

Our plans atm to make the V5.1 and AI moderation default modes (over V4) by the end of the week (if everything looks good).
- There may be further tunings of V5.1 styles and possibly a V5.2 after that.

I like the infrared effect on this one, but what are those white objects?

They could be a distorted version of bales of hay wrapped in white plastic, I have seen a lot of these here in the countryside, or this is the stuff you can only see in the dreams :)

the way AI is currently programmed, your question cannot be answered.

I thought as much, but they look very strange.

A good source of prompt experimentation:

I had a quick look but I found most of examples rather weird, I am also not into portraits. Some lighting ideas are great, I will explore these further.

I went through lighting video and I like these prompts the best (individually, not together):
accent light, ambient light, area light, backlight, blue hour, bottom lighting, broad lighting, shadows, catch light, cinematic lighting, continuous light, defused light source, diffused directional light, haze, lighting cues, low key lighting, natural light, reflection, spotlight

I tried a landscape image:

With prompt (image) dreamy, luminous, night photography, diffused light source, fog I got this:

it kept all elements of the original image and added some flowers and a dog.

After adding some prompts to (image) dreamy, cinematic lighting, spotlights, reflection, luminous, night photography, diffused light source, fog

this time it added a lake and a boat, I guess to implement reflection prompt.

I generated many images with many versions of prompts till I finally got something with dreamy look that I liked:

prompt - (image) dreamy, cinematic lighting, reflection, night, fog

When I tried the prompt (image) dreamy on its own the image got very weird:

And just for fun I went for (image) surreal and I liked the innovative architecture it produced :)

Thanks, Georges, and I thought that generating images in AI is easy! :)

I am working at the moment on prompts to give the images generated from my images a dreamy look, any suggestions? By dreamy I don't mean nightmares! ChatGPT gave me these synonyms:
"Romantic, Ethereal, Idealistic, Enchanting, Alluring, Imaginative, Fantastical, Unreal, Otherworldly, Delicate, Gentle, Soft, Serene, Peaceful, Tranquil"

Are there any strategies in deciding which prompts to choose? Trying all the permutations of the above would require a computer to feed Midjourney! And then I still would need to spend a lot of time on looking at the outputs, few days later.

fairy energy, celestial phenomenon, delicate, dreamy, ethereal, artistic photography, moonlight time
these are the ones I used before and they usually generate very fairy dream like output

a few beautiful pale colourful roses, silk threads, glow, smoke, fairy energy, celestial phenomenon, delicate, dreamy, ethereal, artistic photography, moonlight time

majestic ruby red rose, golden background, glow, smoke, fairy energy, celestial phenomenon, delicate, dreamy, ethereal, artistic photography, moonlight time
