Hey TLL061,
To add thumbnails to a page click the thumbnail button: . When it prompts you for an imput put in the DPChallenge image number. So if you wanted to put in image //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=66171. you would put 66171 in. So it would be [ thumb ]66171[ /thumb ]:

Originally posted by richterrell: This is over a railroad bridge in Richmond, VA. I was on a 30-minute quest this afternoon to find the actual name of this bridge. I am not sure at this point the bridge even has a proper name; it was one of those "I wonder what the name of that bridge is" things that got out of hand once I came up empty in Google and started calling city offices :-)
It has ended with me leaving a voice mail for someone in CSX's bridge engineering department. I had already been referred there by the city of Richmond's planning and engineering office and other areas in CSX. All I know at this point is that it was designed by a man named John Edward Greiner. And that nobody in Richmond seems to know what the name of this bridge is.
And I just remembered it is a sunrise to boot... :-) |
I received a call at 7:30 this morning (ouch - I guess you get what you ask for, but I was WAY asleep) from the engineer I left a voicmail with. He confirmed that the bridge does not have a name per se; although it does have a starting number and an ending number indicating it's mile marker, something like that. Seems a shame that a bridge this beautiful does not have a name of any sort, or is dedicated to someone or something. |

There are so many wonderful sunset pics you've all done. It never gets old, does it? Always new and fresh. Great job everyone. A few stand out to me, but I want to study them more before picking a few favorites, and comments.
Here is mine.
Here's a recent one

"Once again, it was a good night for sunsets in the Bay Area. This is Isaac Marcus reporting."
Watching Over the Sleeping Lady
The title refers to an old Native American legend about Mount Tamalpais, seen in silhouette on the left.
I just missed by about ten seconds catching the guy with his arm outstretched, pointing at something in the distance. :(
Sunset and Strip Mall
Took this out the car window while waiting at a traffic light in Concord.

Living in Florida, a 300mm lens is a must.
P.S. Why do so many people Photoshop the hell out of their sunset pictures?

Here are two that I like well enough. Just random snapshots (one in Hawaii, one standing on my sister's balcony ledge with my boyfriend holding my ankles, insisting that I was going to fall off and die. He's afraid of heights! hehe) |

I think it's gorgeous...the border may be a bit too much. Love the colors and the silhouette.

I wasn't too sure about the border myself but everyone else was seemed to be using a black one and I like to be different :) Thank you for your comment Laurie. Your sunsets are great too.

Saturday night was pretty nice too. Normally I would apply a moderate tone curve to deepen the color and contrast a little, but in this case these are resized only; no adjustments, no sharpening, etc.
