it appears that there is a few people that may have multiple accounts or guest accounts and are voting people very low scores. So far I have 1 comment on the waiting challenge from a person who's shot for the team sport challenge didn't exsist but a black box yet scored 3 10's |

You have no proof that people have multiple accounts and are low balling, so shut up unless you know that for a fact...and you dont. |

Yeah...maybe.
But, I think "shut up" is less harsh then calling the place a cheat. I dont know, if people are actually doing what is accused, then I am sure it will be taken care of. |

He left a very kind message on mine as well....perhaps he seeks vengeance for having won the brown ribbon first time out. |

If you suspect someone has multiple accounts, is voting "inappropriately," or otherwise violating the site TOS, the correct procedure is not to alert the person by spreading unfounded rumors through the forums, but to send an email outlining your concerns to the site admins via the "Contact" link under the "Help" menu. |

It's all speculation. Nobody is going to be able to "suspect someone" unless that person were to blab it around that they have multiple accounts and do that. So this won't help.
What WOULD help, and I've mentioned it before, is to put logic into the scoring engine to raise a red flag when voting appears to be outside the "normal" voting patterns and/or outside the normal bell curve in votes you are supposed to see, statistically speaking.
Then you have 2 approaches with what to do with the "red flag" waving in your face:
1) You could record the username and IP address of the user who cast the "irregular" vote(s). Then next you'd need to analize the results to look for patterns, etc., IPs, users, and try to form reasonable cause to inquire further. So if a bunch of very low votes are recorded from the same IP on entries where the bell curve tends to lean towards the high end (ie. it's a good entry), then that might tend to be suspicious, right? The only problem is, unless it's against the TOS to have multiple accounts from the same IP (which I doubt it is) then even if you are sure someone is trying to skew the voting, you can't do a thing about it because people can vote any way they like.
2) So instead, the scoring engine must "skew" the skewers, so to speak, (if they even exist) by automatically disregarding votes based on a standard "bell curve". You know when you see those 10 1 votes on a good picture and then the normal bell curve after that, from 2 up to 9, and sometimes a high number of 10s? Well with this idea, the 10 1s would automaticlly be removed since they fall far outside a normal voting pattern. This would be extremely easy to implement and would be very fair and accurate. It's the only way I think that would work.

first let me start off by saying that it is being done and I'm sure if you watch the votes you will see it. I am not refering to the people taking the ribbons but a select few maybe in the middle. I also never brought anybody's name into it until NOW and "Banmorn: He left a very kind message on mine as well....perhaps he seeks vengeance for having won the brown ribbon first time out." just a tid bit of info I have never won a brown ribbon as I am new to photography and I never left you a kind message unless it was in a vote and I for the most part am out spoken and say what I think. All I am saying is even when the voting is done go back and review the pictures of the challange and you will see what I am talking about. |
