Yes, that’s what it is. I have only seen one out in the wild and he sure didn’t stick around for me to take a picture of him.

Not a great picture but my most recent bird photo. This is a native bird to Texas that I just happened to spot while out for a walk. |
Such a cool bird, I have never seen one( living it Texas) What is it? |
I've been reliably informed that it is a male Painted Bunting |

Good call - I thought for sure it was an escapee - and judging by the first paragraph of this description, I am not alone :-)

Both my favorite bird and favorite mosquito picture ;) :
This one was captured with my older low res camera when my cockatiel landed on this matching painting, but also one of my favorites because to me he looks like he's on the branch (extended) in the photo, and his colors match the painting perfectly. Not to mention his pose. But to bad it's low res.

Hello all. Yes indeed, this eagle is real. And it isn't a staged shot either. I was on an eagle watch trip along the Skagit River in western Washington on a gray, drizzly day. Most of the eagles (we saw over 200 of them) were resting in the trees. This one was perched on a favorite tree stump on a jutting portion of the shoreline that was covered in snow. I was very lucky to get a shot using my Canon 100-400 L lens. It was under exposed and I had to crop to get the composition I wanted but I am very happy with the result. And, yes, it does look like a diarama in the NY Museum of Natura History... but it's not. Thanks for asking.
