03 - I think this may be a Cassin's Finch (Carpodacus Cassinii), but not 100% sure.
I think hahn23 may be correct on this one. It does look like a Pine Siskin Finch. The yellow in the folded wings may be the giveaway.
04 - My best guess on this one is that it's a Chipping Sparrow (Spizella Passerina)
Any help with the correct ID would be appreciated.

I went out after work and searched high and low, but the only bird I managed a picture of was a Bird of Paradise, which is a plant, which probably doesn't count. AND it was a crappy picture. Going to try again this evening. I should at least get a gull, yes?? |

I'm sure that where you live, there are lots of seabirds. I was chasing Gambel's Quail around this morning, but couldn't get near those pesky critters! I will before the month is over, however. It seems like since the first of April, our birds here have become scarce. They must know about the side challenge... |

1.
I found one! Yes, Tom, you'd think I'd have lots of seabirds, but I think they got the memo about the challenge as well. There used to be a GIANT murder of crows in the 'hood, too, but they've mysteriously disappeared.

I wanted ot go to Wolfe Island in Kingston Ontario today. The weather forecast was great so off I went. It is 2 hrs away and the sky was blue UNTIL I arrived at the ferry, it was a fog bowl. YOu couldn't see 20 feet in front of you. I was a faint glimps of a swan. The camera wouldn't focus on anything and it was gone by the time I got to manual focus. (which is not a handy way ot use an 80-400) the fog stayed most of the day so birding was minimal today!
01 Canada Geese
02 Black capped Chickadee (taken yesterday)
03 Killdeer - I was surprised to see these two so early in the year.
04 Male and female Mallards
05 Male Red-winged blackbird
06 Robin
07 Turkey Vulture |

From 4/2, same spot as the day before. Saw a few that I still haven't captured, including a Sharp-shinned Hawk that perched in the yard 30 seconds after I stepped inside to get a drink.
First the new birds:
17. House Finch (M & F):
18. Red-tailed Hawk:
The 2nd shot is the mating pair nesting in the field behind our house.
Now some additions to birds already captured on 4/1...
4. Red-winged Blackbird: Male Calling Female 2M, 1F & Guest
10. American Goldfinch (M&F):
We recycle our old frying pans as bird baths. Here's the Adult Swim portion of the evening...

A windy day on 4/4, but I got some anyway. First the new birds...
19. Tufted Titmouse: Interestingly one of the more common birds in our yard, but it just doesn't stick around long enough to be photographed
20. American Crow:
And some restatements of already counted birds for the reasons noted...
1. Male Downy Woodpecker with clearly visible tongue (did you know woodpeckers had tongues?):
14. White-breasted Nuthatch (M&F), going the wrong way "up" a tree (they usually go head-down):
11. Black-capped Chickadee with a peanut put out to try and lure the Tufted Titmouse in (they love them):
