Quartier de l'Horloge, the Defender of Time. If you're around Pompidou.

Enjoy Paris!

I have a current passport. I'm more than happy to sacrifice and go in her place...

Ahhhh I can't imagine...I would be going nuts. She has a 10am apt with the State Dept. and a flight at 6:55 pm...hmmmm we'll see how that works because from what I've read you have to allow a minimum of 24 hours to get the replacement...but we're all praying this works and doesn't have anymore delays...It's awful!!!

state dept in Washington DC? You can get it in a day. We've alway had to go in the morning and we don't get it until last minute end of day. But we didn't have that tight of a deadline. I assume that they'll process it quicker than end of day.

But we've never had to wait longer than a day. (we've done it three different times for different people and different reasons. :)

The last one was because we forgot that you need passports for canada now!! Growing up in the northern part of the US, we were very used to not needing passports for Canada. (I guess it's not Canada, it's getting back into the US these days. Regardless, after 40 some years of not needing one, it was a shock to remember last minute that we didâ€Â¦.

The 3 months before expiration is news to me. I need to go check the expiration dates of our passports now...

What's the point of having an "expiration date" if it actually becomes unusable three months before? Seems to me if you have paid-for return tickets dated for sooner than the expiration date you should be able to use rhe current one.

At least this situation will make the trip (even) more memorable ... :-)

Yay! Some 10 years ago my colleague and I got to our airport here in Omaha, not an international airport, with 26 assorted high school students, parents, and another chaperone - only to find out that while we had actual paper tickets for one flight, the airline had cancelled that flight and re-booked us on a flight three hours earlier. Needless to say, we had been no shows on that flight. Turns out the airline had contacted the travel agency but no one there had thought to tell us!! Of course there was no way to get us to Chicago in time to catch our international flight. So a whole bunch of very disappointed kids went home to await word from us while my friend and I raised a little you know what (we didn't want to say what we wanted to say in front of them if you know what I mean LOL). In the end, my half of the group plus one of her kids flew out at O dark thirty as they say, went to Chicago and then Montreal where we had a six hour lay-over. The travel agency happened to be located in Montreal and they met us at the airport, put our luggage into lockers, took us into town in taxis, bought us lunch, and showed us around for a couple of hours before getting us back to the airport for our flight. My friend's group didn't fly out until midday and took a pretty normal route. The two groups landed in Paris 20 minutes apart!!, met up at the airport, and went about our trip, squeezing the itinerary here and there to get the maximum out of our shortened trip. When we got back, my friend and I badgered the company for weeks until we got a day's refund for each person in our party - maybe $250 or so. So all was well, my kids got an extra country which they thought was really cool, and instead of being completely broke at the end, they all had a little money in their pockets :)

Hope your trip is WONDERFUL and you have nothing any more frustrating than this to deal with along the way :)
