The reason I ask is because I did some test shots this way and the image didn't seem to be long and narrow. Just small.. But not awfully so (in some images) |
I just used my crop tool in Photoshop and set the demensions for 16x80. Then when I resised the image for DPC, I set the small end to 160. |

Note that you can't combine images to get the long skinny look. It has to be one composition, cropped. |

Not to worry. That's a nice pano by the way.

Yes it is a nice one -- 360 degree pano, it looks like.

For all the folks asking what's allowed ...
The final image has to have at least one side exactly 160 pixels.
That doesn't mean you have to crop something that's 160 pixels on any side.
For me, I planned to use the full size from the beginning, so I set my selection ratio to 5:1. Then when I resized the short side to 160, the long side was 800. The original crop for my entry was 652x3264.
But you can crop anything you like; just resize at the end to 160. |

Will panorama entries be DNTC?
"Note, this is not a panoramic challenge." can also be understood that is not compulsory to be a panorama...

Panoramas are illegal, under advanced editing rules, because they involve stitching together several different images to make the panorama. The note was put in there in case someone had a "duh" moment and thought this should BE a panorama challenge. |

thanks!
That clarifies. Panorama (stiched) illegal. A (single image) panoramic picture legal. |

Correct. UNLESS you create it with a camera that automatically stitches images into a pano in-camera and presents the result as a "single image": that's not allowed, because in-camera edits have to follow our editing rules. But it's quite easy to produce a pano-like image with an ultrawide lens when cropping to a ribbon... |

Just finished voting and the average vote for this challenge was 6.3659, which is one of the highest averages for a challenge when I've voted on 100% of entries. Very impressive bunch of photos. |

I have just finished my first voting run-through; what a BLAST it was to vote on this one. Definitely one of the more interesting challenges we've had in a while, and as a bonus the thumbnails page is hysterical to look at :-) Well done, everyone! |

Moi aussi. And the ones that will be knocked out are pretty obvious from that page. Too bad. I loved voting - first run-through and I found so many to really love. |
