You've got it mastered I suspect. Any chance you'll be getting bored with it soonish and moving on to something just slightly more challenging? ;) |

Welcome and enjoy! This is a great site for learning, practicing and enhancing your photographic skills. Just a piece of advice, don't allow the low scores to disappoint you! |

I've found that adding a 1.3-1.6 "DPC Voter Correction Constant) to my scores makes themm seem quite reasonable. |

Well, my husband used to be a commercial airline pilot but now he is retired. Airplanes are his passion, mine is photography. We really do not have much in common so to solve my dilemma and his, I decided to learn to photograph airplanes. He has two of the antique ones called a Swift and a Luscombe. We go to our club events each month from Spring to late Fall and go to airshows where I learn most of how to photograph airplanes. Some of his pilot friends are photographers too and give me some personal tutorials and such especially at our events. I team up with one from California who is a normal doctor and a specialist surgeon from Texas who also belong to our flying club. But I am getting sick of airplanes now and want to branch out to other kind of photography. |

I need a normal doctor. My normal isn't working all that well. |

Thank you everyone for the welcome. I like the camaraderie here . I am sure that I will enjoy going this way because I love to laugh and make people laugh too.
I am sorry I wasn't able to come back earlier as I was sort of expecting I will receive a notification from my email that I have a new message from this group. That is #1 reason.
#2 reason is that my husband's best friend and sidekick, a rottenweiler called Tucker finally had his leg operation and together with hubby, we swap taking care of him, ended up camping here downstairs during the night. Hard work, I tell ya. I go to my pooter when I am "resting" from doggie duties and wifey duties. If Bear did not send me an email, I wouldn't have known I have this much posts waiting for me here to respond to.
Now that I had explained myself, may I know how I can be sent a notification from this group of new postings? I have been back here many times looking for tutorials and found some that I like and bookmarked them I just hope I can find where I can click an option to find new posts, respond to some that I know so I too can help and get a notification in my mailbox about some more other responses to the same topic...or something like that...
Anyone who can help explain this one phenomena to me why I am not accepting any notification at all?
Thank you all for the response. |

Hm, I'm not sure there is a way to get emails through the site when one of your threads is posted to. I looked through the user preferences and I looked on the thread creation page. I'm not seeing a way... |

Yeah, that's one of the many little details around here that are kinda frustrating. You can have notifications of PMs sent to you, but there is no way to know if someone has posted to a thread you're watching. You just have to keep checking back :)

You can set any thread to "watch" status and it'll grow eyeballs on your page; then you just click on the eyeballs when you log in to see what;s new. I have lots and lots of eyeballs... |

If you just want to see what's been going on, the "Community" link at the top of each page has all the recent thread activity in one place.
The Swift is a beautiful and shiny aircraft, and the Luscombe a great workhorse for the "outback", with it's short take off and landing ability.
My son Robert learned to fly in a 46 Fairchild 24, with a 220 Continental radial engine. His trainer was a 90 year old WWII B26 bomber pilot and instructor, and later N W Airlines jet pilot, who has been a friend of mine for about 50 years.
Do you have any particular areas of interest to you about photography, or do you just want to feel your way around until you find your personal niche? |

I'm not sure if that option only sends an email when someone quotes your post or (more likely) everytime anyone posts anything -- if you so-flag a popular thread it could fill up one's inbox rather quickly.
More useful (to me anyway) is the option to get an email whenever someone makes a comment on one of your photos (but not those currently in the voting stage).
